A rite of passage for most Singaporean youths, going for a clubbing sesh is akin to getting the first sip of adulthood. That said, a typical club night involves blindly heading to Clarke Quay, entering the club with the shortest line and raving to the same ol’ EDM beats.
Since everyone has unique tastes and preferences, make the most of a late night out by hitting the clubs that best cater to you – from those that play your jams or those that offer fun themed nights. Here is a list of 7 clubs that offer a unique clubbing experience.

You’ll no longer walk a lonely road with EMONIGHTSG: The B-Sides. Hit Cherry on the first Thursday of every month for a throwback to the glory days of eyeliners and skinny jeans, and headbang to nostalgic alt rock, emo and pop-punk tunes like Numb, Helena and Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

To all my sisters out there, be part of Herstory at Canvas for a shebang that’ll have you bopping to Top 40 dance and pop hits from 9PM to 4AM. Held on the first Saturday of every month, each rendition boasts a quirky theme with its own unique dress code – past themes include Disney Princesses, K-Pop, and X-Women (as opposed to X-Men).
There’s also a performance at the stroke of midnight so take a breather from jamming and just chill with your gals.
While its $10 cover charge is cheap enough, here are some ways to score free entry:

Step into Lulu’s Lounge and you’ll notice how its interior is full of juxtaposition. For instance, just below the ritzy chandelier in the reception area is an old beat-up jukebox. In the main area lies a sleek, velvet couch backed against a bare, brick wall laced with graffiti.

It is this incongruous combination of dashy and trashy that makes the lounge perfect for hosting Cafe Bizarre every Saturday.
The event starts at 9PM with a cool jazz performance before changing gears to a full-on burlesque performance at 12AM. Hip-hop will then be played with intermittent mini burlesque shows all the way till 6AM – so you’ll get 3 genres of entertainment in a span of 9 hours!

Singapore Land Tower’s dull-grey facade does not do justice to Empire, the swanky rooftop bar tucked away on its 45th floor. With its spacious, open-air concept that lets you soak in the gorgeous night lights of the CBD, Empire is a step above the standard ol’ cramped clubs.

If you’re a tired office worker looking to relive some youthful bliss, come on Thursdays for The Get Down where old-school music from the 80s to 00s will be played. Unlike other clubs, there are plenty of tables and seats here to rest your tired feet and crack open a cold one.
Although there are no cover charges, it is highly recommended to reserve a table earlier as you’ll definitely need a spot to recharge from all that dancing.
