Who doesn’t know Hello Kitty? But even names such as Kuromi and Gudetama are now pretty popular. These kawaii Sanrio characters have taken the world by storm with their cute faces and childlike characteristics.
If you’re a die-hard Sanrio fan or have a friend who is obsessed with the animated characters, here’s a fun little project for you. Head down to the Japan Summer Fiesta 2024 over at Takashimaya and visit the DIY bar where you get to customise Sanrio keychains and pick up Hello Kitty toys.
From now till 11th August 2024, get a taste of Japan with Takashimaya’s Japan Summer Fiesta 2024. The fair is conveniently located at B2 of Takashimaya Square.
Don’t be confused between this and the food fairs that the mall usually hosts. Instead of snacking on mochi and takoyaki, browse through retail booths featuring Japanese brands like Gashapon, Recoil, Chums, and Doraemon, amongst others.

Sanrio lovers, you’re going to geek out at this DIY keychain bar just right beside the Hello Kitty booth. It’s kinda like personalising your Crocs but this time it’s in the form of a keychain.
Pick a keychain base to start with according to the characters you want. There are 2 versions you can choose from – small name tags from $10 and big name plates from $15.
From there, go crazy with the decorations. The small tags allow you to choose up to 4 Jibbitz while the big ones can fit up to 6. There’s a wide selection of letters and characters you can choose from: Kuromi, Gudetama, Keroppi… the options are endless. Play around with your initials and beloved characters to create your very own unique keychain.
After you’re done, hang them on your bags for a cute pop of colour or even on your luggage so that you can easily identify them on the baggage carousel.

You can also find decorative Sanrio stickers at 3 for $10. They’re waterproof, so stick them on your water bottles and phone cases without worrying about them getting wet.
There’s also a Hello Kitty pop-up right beside the DIY bar. So, if you’re a fan of the fictional cat, definitely shop for merchandise such as t-shirts, plushies, and toys at the booth.
While you’re at it, do check out some of the other participating brands as well. There’s Instax Fujifilm if you need to stock up on film rolls and a Nintendo Switch booth if you’re looking for some new games to play.
So take a trip down to Takashimaya and spend your afternoon shopping away at this year’s Japan Summer Fiesta.
