In the blink of an eye, we’re now at the tail-end of 2020. With the year we’ve had, many of us would have found some way to give back and support our fellow Singaporeans.
If you’re still keen on finding a way to help out, Swim For Hope is back for its 10th year. This year, SAFRA and title sponsor Liberty Insurance Singapore will be organising this annual charity swim from 17th October – 15th November 2020, and participants can clock in their distances at a location of their choice and raise funds for charities like the Autism Resource Centre.
Here’s what you need to know:
This year, there are four separate categories with distances ranging from 1KM to a whopping 55KM. Adults and children alike are welcome to participate, so long as they’re above the age of 6 years old and you sign up beforehand.
Distances and registration prices for each category are as follows:
Category | Registration fees |
Resilience 1KM (for 6 years old and above) | $20 |
Unity Families for Life (for 1 parent & 1 child between 6-12 years old) | $32 |
Tenacious 10KM (13 years old and above) | $30 |
Indomitable 55KM (13 years old and above) | $55 |
Being a virtual swim event, all participants can swim at a place convenient for you – which can be your neighbourhood pool, or even a beach if you’re up for it. All you need to do is to keep track of your swimming distance – SAFRA recommends using a smartwatch – and key the clocked distance into the portal by 15th November 2020, 12PM.
Also, as this will occur on an honour-based system, there won’t be anyone verifying the distance you’ve completed. While it’s easy as it is to donate without putting in the work, it will definitely not be as meaningful.
The beneficiaries this year include the Autism Resource Centre (ARC), Singapore Armed Forces Care Fund, and Singapore Swimming Association (SSA), and rest assured that every single penny from these registration fees will go straight to them.
For those of us who don’t fancy swimming too much, you can still score some karmic points and contribute by dropping a donation over at their registration page.

Swimming long distances isn’t an easy feat, so as a reward for the effort, all participants will be walking away with some freebies. That includes a medal, event tee, and a goodie bag filled to the brim with treats from the event sponsors – items include Sunplay sunscreens and Starbalm sports gels.
For even more goodies, be sure to sign up for the Indomitable category ASAP, as the first 150 signups will also receive a free TYR Mask and Hokey water bottle worth $9.90 and $12.90 respectively.
Additionally, all participating SAFRA members can snag a special $10 Swim For Hope e-voucher, which can be redeemed at all SAFRA clubs, as well as selected F&B tenants within these clubs – perfect for refuelling after a hard day’s work.
If you’ve been looking for a way to kickstart an exercise regimen, Liberty SAFRA Swim For Hope 2020 is the perfect opportunity to get in some cardio – all while contributing to a good cause.
Held from 17th October – 15th November 2020, this event will have you tracking your swim distance in a bid to raise funds for charity. Registration is open from now till 8th November 2020, so go on and sign up now if you haven’t already done so.
