The Rock Of Ages Musical Opens in Singapore – Here’s our review of it

About Rock of Ages

Resorts World Sentosa has brought you back to the 80’s with the worldwide musical comedy hit, Rock of Ages, opening in Singapore. Only here for three weeks, you’ll be in for an unforgettable night of non-stop rock and roll, featuring classic rock hits from bands such as Poison, Journey and Pat Benetar!

As a rock lover and having watched the Rock of Ages movie thrice, I was extremely excited to finally get to attend the musical and bask in rock ‘n’ roll live in concert.

My Rock of Ages Review

Despite already knowing the plot and what to expect, the musical did not disappoint and I was still blown away by the energy and amazing vocals that all the performers had. Belting out classic hits such as Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Don’t Stop Believin’ and We Built This City, the cast of the show effortlessly got the crowd on their feet throughout the show!

They also added a touch of comedy that kept the entire audience at the edge of their seats. The performers were very friendly and interactive with the audience throughout the run of the show, making it a wonderful experience for rock and non-rock lovers alike!

The star attraction of the show is definitely the rocky love relationship between Drew and Sherrie, as they go on a journey to find their way in life – and each other. Both gave amazing performances matched with powerful vocals and to me are rock-star material.

However, the actor that really stood out for me was the “narrator” of the show, Lonny. He engages the audience perfectly, adds fun and humor to the show and plays his character with such ease and passion.

Verdict

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the musical and would strongly recommend everyone to go and see it! However, this musical may not be suitable for all ages as it has strong sexual innuendos and suggestive dancing and performances (I actually felt really bad for the parents sitting behind me who brought their 5 year old son to the show).

Despite that, and the fact that the ticket prices are rather steep, I felt that it was well worth for the fun, laughter and enjoyment that you get.

So get dressed in your favourite 80’s rock outfit and get ready to rock the night away!

Event Dates: 6th to 24th August – Tuesday to Friday: 8pm | Saturday to Sunday: 1pm and 8pm
Ticket Prices: $85, $125, $145, $165, $175
