Although thrift shopping has become more popular in recent years, many of these shops are still pretty inaccessible due to their remote locations. On top of having very little incentive to travel out, the journey involves getting lost in a maze of shops or having to rely on Google Maps to find your way to its hidden, obscure location.
This, too, is a downside for those of us wanting to donate our preloved items. Nobody wants to have to lug a large duffle bag all the way to a faraway location avoid of nearby MRT stations.
If you’re looking for a more convenient second-hand shopping experience or a more convenient donation drop-off point, check out Singapore Red Cross’s pop-up charity shop located at Dhoby Xchange.

Besides being able to get your hands on vintage clothing at a lower price, you’ll also be able to save on pre-loved electronics, accessories, toys and exclusive red-cross merch. Check out some of their SRC Lego figurines ($20) and anniversary watches ($180) too.
Given that the majority of us are still working from home, you can browse through their existing Carousell shop to see if anything catches your eye before heading down. Prices go as low as $30 for a pre-loved Coach wallet and $35 for a Swarovski bangle!

Chances are that you’ll probably leave this pop-up store with a good deal, but take this opportunity to give back to the community as well.
If you’ve done a Marie Kondo on your house and have a heaping pile of clothes and mementos that “don’t bring you joy”, drop them off here – chances are, they’ll bring someone else a little joy.
You can also hop over to Blood Bank @ Dhoby Ghaut, one of Red Cross’s four permanent blood banks around the island to donate blood. It’s also located within the MRT, so you won’t even have to leave the station.

This pop-up store is an extension of Shop+, Singapore Red Cross’s existing thrift shop which can be found at the Red Cross Campsite. All the proceeds from the sale of these goods at Shop+ and the pop-up will go towards supporting local humanitarian services such as ElderAid and Family LifeAid
