“Should I go back to school?” – now that’s a common question that everyone ponders over. But there’s no need to rush into a hasty decision: after all, it’s your future we’re talking about. Whether you’re a fresh uni grad or working professional, head over to the NIE Postgraduate & Continuing Education Fair to see if further studies is the path for you.

Since NIE is a part of NTU, there’s a huge range of specialisations – everything from psychology to botany.

The Fair is held for just one day on 11th May 2019 with plenty of masterclasses, mentoring sessions, and expert talks. Parents, feel free to bring your kids along: there’s even a children’s activity area.

Masterclass sessions – SkillsFuture workshop & expert sharing sessions

Since enrolling in a course can be a scary decision, the Fair has many useful masterclass sessions so you can “try out” different courses before settling on the right one for you. From early childhood education to sport science, these sharing sessions are led by experts and offer up super useful insight – such as practical things you can do with your degree after.

Some of the classes that caught our eye include:

  • Recognising Talent in the Young and Challenging Them with Picture Books
  • Help Others Live Better: Becoming a Professional Counsellor Today!
  • Future-Proofing with the Arts
  • Be a 21st Century Mathematics Educator!

There’ll also be a useful SkillsFuture Advice workshop. While everyone knows that SkillsFuture offers up fee subsidies and skills upgrading, it isn’t always clear how to get started. This free 45-minute workshop gets you thinking about the future with profiling tools and a sharing sesh.

You can find the full schedule of masterclass sessions here.

Graduate Student Club – advice from postgrad students and alumni & family-friendly play area

The easiest way to find out if a postgrad degree is the right choice for you? Asking those who were in the same boat. Over at the Graduate Student Club, you can ask current students and alumni about their own experiences – you’ll finally find the answers to “how useful is the course?” and “is there a practical element?”.

These students will be wearing a distinct polo tee – make sure to approach them for a quick chat!

Feel free to drop by with your kids too – they’ve got a child-friendly zone that’s filled with colouring books and pencils.
