When it comes to overseas getaways, JB isn’t the only place Singaporeans flock to; Batam is another firm favourite, known for fresh seafood, affordable spa treatments, and things to do outside the Batam city centre.
And if you’ve been to Batam more times than you can count, you’ll be glad to know that a new attraction is opening very soon. Opus Bay is a new integrated resort set to open in phases from December 2026, giving you yet another reason to book that Batam trip for the year-end holidays.

Located on the west coast of Batam, Opus Bay is a 125ha waterfront resort that began development in 2021 by Singapore-based property developer Tuan Sing Holdings. The resort will be Indonesia’s 1st fully integrated township, bringing accommodation, retail, and recreational facilities together in 1 destination.
Starting from December 2026, Opus Bay will begin opening its doors with Marina Bay Ferry Cove, the resort’s very own ferry terminal, and Residence on Opus Bay, which includes the 493-room Balmoral Tower hotel.

The ferry ride from the Singapore Cruise Centre will take roughly 45 minutes, where you’ll be dropped off at Marina Bay Ferry Cove in Batam. From there, it’s a 3-minute walk to the hotel, so you can start on your getaway as soon as you step off the ferry.

Standing 35 storeys tall, Balmoral Tower will be Batam’s largest hotel when it opens in December 2026. With 493 rooms ranging from deluxe studios to 2-bedroom suites, there’ll be plenty of options for couples and families looking for a comfortable stay.

If you’re after more space and privacy, Cluny Resort will offer 57 villas across 7 categories, with options of up to 3 bedrooms for different group sizes, so larger groups can spread out without giving up that tucked-away feel.

While major shopping malls are a 30-minute drive from the resort, you won’t have to venture far for retail and dining once Bay Boulevard Marina Promenade opens in early 2027.
Spanning across 10,000sqm, the waterfront precinct will feature nearly 80 retail and dining outlets, alongside a food hall and supermarket, giving you a wide range of food and shopping options without having to leave the resort.

Also set to open in early 2027, the Sports Park will be a 5-minute walk away from Residence on Opus Bay, so squeezing in a workout during your stay won’t take much convincing.
The outdoor space will consist of 3 padel courts, including a competition-standard court, and 4 pickleball courts, surrounded by lush greenery and open skies. The Sports Park will also be open to the public, with an on-site food kiosk for light refreshments after a game.
With its own ferry terminal, hotel, private villas, and upcoming shopping and sports facilities, Opus Bay is shaping up to be the next easy escape from Singapore. The resort opens progressively from December 2026, so bookmark this spot if a Batam trip is on the cards.
