On days the merciless heat makes me crave for a cold, sweet treat, the ice cream chiller at petrol kiosks and supermarkets becomes the oasis to my parched desert. And one of my salvations of choice? Magnum, of course.
We’re all familiar with the classic ice cream brand – sticks of decadent vanilla or chocolate ice cream coated with an outer layer of Belgian chocolate, sometimes sprinkled with almond bits. But for those who prefer something that is inspired by Asian flavours, Magnum is launching an all-new Matcha flavour, which you can redeem at the Magnum Mini Matcha World pop-up display at NomadX, Plaza Singapura when you participate in their virtual game.
Beyond the physical display, you can also win prizes like dining experiences and staycations. Happening from now till 14th March 2021, here’s what to expect:
A physical display of the Magnum Mini Matcha World can be viewed at NomadX at Plaza Singapura
While we won’t be able to fly to Tokyo or Osaka any time soon, the Magnum Mini Matcha World mobile game transports you to similar sights where you can learn more about the Asian-inspired influences for the new flavour.
But that’s not all. Equipped with a 360° view of locations like Cocoa Coast and Matcha Metropolis Station, the immersive world is also available to explore via mobile, which presents a game of hide-and-seek where you’ll need to keep your eyes peeled and fingers ready to win prizes.

There are three kinds of quests, each with their own types of prizes up for grabs:
Explore zones inspired by Japan, including a hillside and carnival setting.

Who can say no to free ice cream, especially when it’s Magnum? Swipe your way through the seven different zones in the virtual world to spot mini Magnum Matcha ice creams inconspicuously hidden. All you’ll need to do is tap on them to get a prize for redemption.
Not all the ice creams will reveal prizes though. Some of them will say that they’re “fully redeemed”, which means that you’ll need to re-visit the world at random timings to be the fastest to spot the hidden ice creams again.
Find Magnums hiding in the virtual world for the chance of getting a code to redeem a free ice cream

Besides free ice cream, you might also score foodpanda discount codes that will save you money on your next delivery.
Spot the mini figurines inside the virtual world on your mobile phone and you could win prizes worth up $300
No need to stress out if you can’t find a hidden ice cream with a prize. Alternatively, look out for the mini figurines in the world enjoying activities like hiking or having a date. Take a screenshot of them, upload it to Magnum’s Facebook post and incorporate the word “matcha” in your caption.
You’ll need to tap into your creativity for this one – the best entries stand to win prizes worth up to $300 each that includes food vouchers at the Orient Express Exhibition Restaurant, Ikeda Spa vouchers and even a glamping adventure for six pax.
If you’ve used up your SingaporeRediscover vouchers or simply want to ration them, here’s another way to score a staycation.
10 special Matcha Magnum ice cream will also be hidden within the various virtual zones. Be the first to spot these, and send in a screenshot of it to Magnum’s Facebook page for a chance to win a two-night suite stay at The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore, worth $2,236.
P.S. there is a time limit for each zone too, so you’ll have to be quick and have masterful attention to detail!

On top of the special new Magnum Matcha flavour, dessert aficionados are in for even more of a treat. Magnum has teamed up with local bakery Sourbombe to come up with a limited edition bundle that combines the best of best worlds.
The Magnum x Sourbombe bundle consists of a box of three donuts in flavours – Matcha World, Momo Sakura and – Hojicha Caramel Crunch – together with a box of Magnum Matcha multipack of four sticks. Available for pre-order online at $25 at Sourbombe’s website, these make for great sharing boxes at home with the fam, or with the BFFs at your next house party.
You can have these delivered straight to your doorstep, or physically pick them up on 13th March 2021 at the Magnum Mini Matcha World pop-up at NomadX.
Taste-wise, the Magnum Matcha combines the classic 100% Belgian chocolate we know and love with a rich, authentic matcha flavor in every bite. I particularly loved how it wasn’t overly gao or sweet too.
A multipack of four retails for $10.90, or you can also get mini versions in a multipack of six together with classic Magnums. For when those random cravings hit, “impulse” sizes are also available for $3.90. You can get your Magnum Matcha fix from all major supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience stores and petrol kiosks, or online from RedMart and foodpanda.
From now till 31st March 2021, there’s also a promo of two multipacks of Magnum Mini for $16.90 at major supermarkets and hypermarkets – the perfect chance to stock up and give the new flavour a go.
Realising there’s ice cream stocked in the freezer is one of life’s simplest pleasures. And with prizes to be won at the ongoing Magnum Mini Matcha World pop-up event at NomadX from now till 14th March 2021, there’s even more reasons for you to celebrate.
