Being artistic doesn’t have to mean you’ll fit into the trope of “the starving artist”. If you have a talent for creating visually-appealing things, you may just be able to snag some lucrative prizes at KINEX mall’s upcoming art competitions.
Team up with your buddies to design and paint a giant 3D dove, or try your hand at a floral arrangement competition for a chance to display your masterpiece and win U-POPP Gift Cards worth up to $1,000. For those who don’t have artistic talent, no need for FOMO – read on to find out how you can get your hands on the bounty as well!
Submissions for the competition are now open. Titled Paint the Doves, you’ll have to put on your thinking caps to come up with the most creative and unique dove design that’ll stand out from the flock.

To get started, download the dove template on KINEX’s website and start sketching. You can go solo or team up with up to 4 friends to sketch a design for a 1.2-metre tall 3D dove. Submit the work you’re most proud of by 14th October 2019 for a chance to score a spot as 1 of the 9 finalists.
If selected, you’ll be converting your design onto a huge dove at the live contest from 15th – 17th November 2019. Your finished design will be displayed in the mall, where shoppers will be able to cast votes for your work of art too!
The winning dove design will be decided based on 3 criteria: design and originality; workmanship and teamwork; and shoppers’ votes. So make sure your dove has what it takes to capture the attention of voters!
All finalists can look forward to winning these prizes:
Total pool: Prizes worth $5200.
Those with a knack for home decor will find themselves right at home with the mall’s Floral Arrangement Competition. Happening on 17th November 2019, this competition isn’t your run-of-the-mill decorating contest – there’s a 3-hour time limit, so you’ll have to work fast to create a masterpiece that’ll stand out.
The mall has several shops selling artificial flowers on level 3
Colourful artificial flowers will be provided, and you’ll have to make use of the display space at the mall to craft your design.
Signing up is easy – simply head down to KINEX’s Level 2 Customer Service Counter by 30th October 2019 to register. The registration fee is $30 for the public and $20 for members of Singapore Horti-Flora Federation.
You’ll also get to pick from a list of floral and decorative materials provided by the shops in KINEX mall beforehand. To create a floral display that stands out from the rest, bring your own tools and any extra material needed from home.
Slots are limited to the first 30 participants who sign up, so drop by the mall to reserve your spot before they run out.
The winning floral arrangement will be decided based on 2 main criteria: design and originality, and floral installation technique.
Your efforts will pay off as all participants are entitled to these attractive prizes:
Total pool: Prizes worth $3700.
