Rejoice, my fellow Easties, because the festive cheer has finally found its way to our side of sunny Singapore. That’s right – say goodbye to the hour-long MRT rides to town for some festive cheer, and hello to the holiday discounts right at Katong V.
This cosy mall has a number of Christmas dining deals that are great for get-togethers – no matter if you are into sushi or classic brunch mains. Plus, you can totally use the ShopFarEast app here too, and get reward points for every dollar you spend!
They say a good breakfast is the best way to start the day. If that’s the case, you’ll definitely want the Signature Breakfast ($14.80) at Bread and Hearth. This dish comes with a crisp hashbrown, fragrant toast and a generous serving of greens, as well as two delectable egg-and-bacon rolls.
Another noteworthy main is The Legendary Croissant ($13.90), which puts all the other croissants out there to shame with its giant proportions. This will leave even the most ravenous of your buddies feeling stuffed.
Then there’s the Avocatoast ($12.80), a mix of smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and avocado mash on toast which comes together in a harmonious blend. Perfect for the millennial friend who’s always on the food trend.
Bonus: All of the mains here come with a healthy serving of veggies on the side, and if you flash the ShopFarEast app before 1st Jan 2019, you’ll get $5 off any main course!
For those with a sweet tooth, the restaurant’s got your back too. The Tiramisu ($6.80) here is oh-so-creamy and melts deliciously in your mouth, and the rich Chocolate Tart ($6.80) is a must-have for your choco lover friends.

Hailing all the way from the land of the rising sun is Tomi Sushi. They’ve opened more than 14 branches in Japan in just half a century, so you can be sure that their sushi is legit.
Plus, from now till 25th Dec 2018, a plateful of sashimi and sushi goodness known as the Maguro Zanmai will cost only $29.50 instead of the usual $59 – that’s a whopping 50% off!

The café enthusiasts among us might be familiar with Group Therapy – an established cafe that’s also located at Katong V.
Well, they’ve gone ahead and opened Strong Flour in the same mall, and this time, they’re preparing food with an Italian twist. Like the Pumpkin Sage Ravioli ($19), which comes with plump pieces of Ravioli lathered in creamy brown butter sage sauce.
The meat on the Honey-Glazed Ribs ($24) here is sweet and tender, and it comes with a chewy, pearl-shaped pasta known as Fregola Sarda. Pasta lovers would be advised to try the Beef Ragu ($19). The broad pasta soaks up the flavours of the slow-cooked beef and red wine tomato sauce for a sumptuous mouthful.
If you’re coming here with friends, go for one of their thin crust pizzas. The Truffle Pizza ($22) is an especially good choice. Not only does it have a mouth-watering aroma that’s sure to get everyone excited, but the truffle flavour blends perfectly with the crisp pizza too.
Another good dish to share would be the Maple-glazed Brussel Sprouts with Crispy Pancetta ($9). There’s a subtle aftertaste of pleasantly sweet maple which pairs well with the savoury bacon bits!
The restaurant has a bright and airy interior, which is spacious enough to fit the whole gang in. But if you prefer the comfort of your own home, Strong Flour can bring the festive dining right to your doorstep. They’ve got a special Christmas catering menu, and you can place your orders here!

Tucked away in a cosy corner of Katong V is the East Manhattan bakery. This place might not have any seats, but they do have a variety of breads, sourdoughs croissants and cakes – making it a great place to pick up some Christmas treats.
And we’ve got out eye on these non-run-of-the-mill finds. Try the coconutty Onde Onde cake here, as well as the Kit Kat cake, which is a miniature block of pure chocolate indulgence.
Bonus: During the month of December, you can get a bundle consisting of a slice of both of these cakes for just $12. You can also score a $10 discount off a whole cake just by flashing your ShopFarEast app.
