I first found out about this amazing place from Instagram, where frames of beautiful people stood looking out of an ornate balcony into a gorgeous blue bay, or lounging on spacious day beds sipping on a fancy-looking cocktail. All the beautiful pictures came from one source – InterContinental Da Nang.
\When I was told I was going to Da Nang, InterContinental Da Nang was the first thing that came to mind. Featuring not one, but two cable cars within the resort itself, I knew I had to check this place out for myself!
Perched atop Monkey Mountain, InterContinental Da Nang offers hands down the best views any resort in Da Nang can offer. Separated into four levels – Heaven, Sky, Earth and Sea, the winner of the World’s Leading Luxury Resort 2015 features award-winning architecture that pays homage to Vietnamese culture and folklore.
The resort was impressive enough but once we got to the room I didn’t want to leave. You can languish on the unbelievably plush bed of your ambient room, or enjoy a good La Rue beer on a spacious balcony that’s exclusively yours! The toilet was also unbelievably massive, with a huge bath tub that I could see myself soaking in for days.
There’s a lovely stretch of private beach within the extensive estate and is the perfect place to spend the day without the noisy chatter of large groups of tourists or hawkers trying to peddle their wares. The water in the lagoon is also calm and shallow, which makes it a good beach for families with small children.
While situated a relative distance away from the city centre (20 mins by car), the sheer expanse of the property itself will have you entertained for days. Also, with activities like fishing, stand up paddle boarding, taichi classes and a hand tsubo massage workshop at the World’s Best New Hotel Spa 2015, you can be sure you will never run out of things to do.
The hotel is also home to the gorgeous La Maison 1888. With culinary heavyweights three Michelin-starred chef Pierre Gagnaire and Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux helming the kitchen, the French cuisine served here will leave you in gastronomical food coma bliss.
Breakfast is served at The Citron, a restaurant with many hanging pods that allow visitors unobscured views of the beach and the gorgeous hills in the vicinity. If you ask me, there’s no better way to start your morning!
The Citron also holds special champagne brunches from time to time, so do be sure to check out their website and social media channels for updates on their next event – you won’t want to miss it.
Alternatively if you’re just looking for a drink, I thoroughly enjoyed lounging at Long Bar, their poolside bar and bistro with the comfiest and biggest day beds I’ve ever seen. Long Bar serves a wide variety of classic cocktails, as well as their own local variations of crowd favourites like the My Mojito with chilli and palm sugar!
Whatever the occasion, InterContinental is the place to be. With tickets to Da Nang often going for about $200 two-ways, there’s definitely room for a good pampering and indulgence at the InterContinental Da Nang.
