SAFRA Tampines Now Has SG’s First Rooftop Batting Cage With Sessions From $6

iBat by Urbanytes

Singapore has plenty of places to kick, throw and whack balls around, like the new ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre, but batting cages are considerably harder to come by. Now, Easties can channel their inner baseball pro without even leaving Tampines, thanks to iBat by Urbanytes, Singapore’s 1st rooftop batting cage at SAFRA Tampines.

Try baseball & softball in an automated batting cage

You don’t need experience to have fun at iBat, as the rooftop facility is designed for both complete beginners and seasoned baseball or softball players looking to get some batting practice in.

Step into one of the batting lanes, pick up your bat, and an automated pitching machine will fire balls your way at intervals of around 5 to 6 seconds. So keep your eye on the balls, time your swing, and hopefully score a hit instead of dramatically swinging at thin air.

Each round comes with 10 pitches and a short break afterwards for you to catch your breath or make adjustments before going again.

More experienced players can also use the cages to practice their batting technique, making the space suitable for anything from a casual friend outing to an intense training sesh.

Moreover, on the rooftop of SAFRA Tampines, it’s a pretty good spot to live your baseball pro dreams without travelling overseas for batting cages, commonly found in cities like Seoul or Tokyo, which also inspired this one in Singapore. Prior to iBat’s opening, the only operating batting cage in Singapore was an indoor one at Dempsey.

Prices from $6

With prices from just $6 for 20 pitches, which works out to be $0.30 per pitch, iBat is a great place for an affordable date, gathering, or even a solo day out.

Type Price for 20 pitches Cost per pitch
SAFRA Members $6 $0.30
Guests / Public $8 $0.40

Do note that these are introductory promotional rates, so prices may go up in time to come.

Additionally, participants must currently be aged 13 or older. You have to sign a waiver if you’re 18 and above, while those aged 13 to 17 will require parental consent.

Not to worry if you have younger kiddos who are upset about missing out, because iBat says dedicated trial and coaching sessions for kids aged 12 and below are in the works.

You will need to wear covered, closed-toe sports shoes to enter the batting cage, on top of the provided batting helmet with a face guard.

Current opening hours are 10am to 10pm on weekdays, and 8am to 10pm on weekends and public holidays.
