I have never been a believer of the philosophical concept of Fate and Destiny. Where we are all playing out a predetermined future assigned by a higher power. Things happen not because of this or because of that; they happen because you reach out and grab hold of it. They happen because you fight for it. And if you didn’t do anything; they happen because. things. just. happen. However I’m starting to question this conviction of mine.
When I believe in something, I don’t usually sway as my ideologies are close to me and I hold them intensely. However where do you draw the line from a dash of coincidence or a stroke of serendipity? I have been slipping down the parable slippery slope, each lunge forward only takes me further back into the gaping hole waiting like a vulture to eventually swallow me whole, I have been fighting it for an eternity but now an angel has descended from the heavens and picked me up in her arms, elevating me back to ground zero – the point I was before everything started. There are no demons in this past, they have been locked up, binded by apathy. Only the angels are left floating around mysteriously, just waiting for a chance to make an appearance.
I have faced this slope time and time again, so much so that it has morphed into this unforgiving mountain with its summit beyond imagination deep in the shroud of mist. I cannot start the arduous journey. I only dream about conquering it. Not because I don’t want to. Because I can’t. Because I don’t have what it takes. Truth and self-deprecation do not have to be related, at least not to me, I am inclined to brutal truths rather than self-induced fantasy. But for once, just once, with this almost desperate lunge forward, not much different from the last or countless ones before it yields something in return.
Don’t preach to the choir because in the absence of demons, the angels are here to sing.
