Singapore’s got three seasons: Wet, hot and hotter. The heat and humidity will continue to terrorise us – and our hair – but nothing can stop us from having a good time. This June, the ultimate beach party is happening right in the heart of Marina Bay with the return of Singapore’s Biggest BayFest, DBS Marina Regatta.
With activities like a giant inflatable obstacle course, Potato Head’s legendary Coconut Bar, and the DBSMR x ULTRA Countdown Party, it’s all about embracing the beach life from 1st – 4th June. Here are 5 reasons why DBS Marina Regatta should be the official start to your year-long summer:

Our lil island has sandy shores aplenty, including Singapore’s first ever urban beach which will be making a comeback – twice as big as before. Cosy hammocks, soft white sand between your toes, super giant Jenga games and an awesome view of the iconic bay skyline? This is one beach we’ll need to visit.
New features this year include two massive beach domes – the Play Dome and the Bay Dome, an experiential interactive installation where you can customise your own avatar and see it come to life on a projection of the Bay skyline.
And don’t mistake this as a measly little sandbox – it’s the size of 2 and a half olympic pools and can accommodate up to 400 people. Image credit: DBS

Whoever said bouncy castles were meant for kids needs to check out Battle Bay, a giant inflatable water obstacle course featuring 9 challenges to tackle, Wipeout style. We hear that Nathan Hartono and Jaime Teo will be going at it head-to-head – sounds like a battle to watch.
If you’re not up for the solo challenge, grab 3 of your mates to form a squad. There’s prize money up for grabs, the top team will bag $3,000 and the best solo runner clinches $500.
You can also see childhood games come to life and have a go at them too. With games like giant jenga and pick up sticks, there’ll be something for everyone to play.
Note: You’ve gotta be at least 18 years old to take part in the obstacle course. It’s $5 per try for students and $10 per try for the rest.

Nothing screams summer more than enjoying a fancy piña colada on the beach. And with Bali’s famed Potato Head Coconut Bar finding its way onto our shores, summer has never tasted sweeter.
So go ahead and treat yo’self to Potato Head’s signature coconut cocktails and beers, and sink into a comfy hammock under the palm trees to enjoy it all. Ah, the good life.

And just because you don’t have a beach bod, doesn’t mean it’s too late to start – lululemon is bringing some kickass fitness classes to DBS Marina Regatta. Find some zen and be prepared to work every single muscle in your body with their crew of pro yoga instructors.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for something a little more adrenaline-pumping, head to the Play Dome for some complimentary high-intensity circuits with WeBarre workouts.
Tip: Participants who complete all classes are in for a lululemon surprise!

Sundown at the regatta doesn’t mean packing up and going home – heck no, the party’s just getting started! Bust out your hidden dance moves and impress the crowd at DBSMR X ULTRA Countdown Party, happening on Friday and Saturday night (2nd – 3rd June) from 7PM – 10PM. Ultra will also be giving away a limited selection of goodies to lucky party-goers.
And be sure to get there early, tickets are $15 and it comes with a free cocktail from Potato Head – so your entry is practically free! Awww yeah, now you’re dancing.
Psst, we hear Live Fresh cardmembers get priority!
With DBS Marina Regatta offering us a slice of tropical paradise smack in the heart of our city, this epic beach party is not to be missed. Whether you choose to have a splash at the Battle Bay, chill by the beach or dance the night away, we know one thing’s for sure – you’re gonna have a good time.
And of course, we can’t forget the most important part of a regatta: dragonboating! Expect to see paddlers battle fiercely to the end in 500m and 200m races that will be taking place over the course of the 4 days.
