Customise Your Own Jellycat Plushies With Cute Iron-On Patches From $1 At This Store In New Bahru

Customised Jellycat plushies in Singapore

Even if you’re not familiar with the name “Jellycat”, you’re likely to have seen their iconic rabbit plushies before. The renowned British brand is most famous for their floppy-eared bunny series, and has an extensive array of premium soft toys in designs spanning animals, mythical creatures, food, and even plants.

These atas collectibles are a popular gift option, and you can now make your giftee even more touched by presenting them a customised Jellycat plushie. Simply head to Sea Apple, a boutique specialising in sustainable kids’ gear. Here’s what the customisation service, currently available at their New Bahru branch, entails:

Jellycat customisation with iron-on patches & stickers

Located at the hip lifestyle establishment in River Valley called New Bahru, Sea Apple is a trendy boutique selling sustainable children’s clothes, as well as kids’ items like toys, books, and accessories. They have a DIY “craft bar” where you can personalise items like shirts, hats, name tags, and bibs. The latest addition to this customisable fun? Cuddly Jellycat soft toys.

At the moment, the customised Jellycat service is limited to the bunny series. This is due to the design’s long fabric ears, which provide the optimal material and surface area for the adherence of patches. Take your pick from Sea Apple’s shelves of Jellycat bunnies, ranging from petite bag charms ($47.90) to small ($35.90) and medium ($52.90) plushies.

Then, choose from a plethora of iron-on patches, priced from $1-$5 depending on the size and design. Most of them fall within the $1-$2 range, especially considering that the Jellycat bunny ears cannot accommodate the extra large patches. If you want to sport those, you can consider picking up some other customisable gear from Sea Apple.

Prices start from $10 for a name tag that you can hook onto your bag, $28.90 for headgear, and $35 for a plain t-shirt that you can deck out in patches and make one-of-a-kind.

The iron-on patches come in all sorts of designs that you’ll have a blast sifting through, including hearts, smiley faces, fruits, and animals such as a puppy and sloth. Bubble letters in an assortment of colours are particularly popular, ‘cause what’s more thoughtful than spelling out the name of a Jellycat bunny’s happy new owner?

Things to note before getting your customised Jellycat

Sea Apple offers Jellycat customisation for plushies purchased in-store, at their New Bahru outlet. Choose your new Jellycat bunny to adopt, take your pick of iron-on patches, arrange them in your ideal placement, and that’s all there is to it. The Sea Apple team will iron the patches on on-the-spot and your cuddle buddy will be ready for same-day collection.

The service is available via walk-ins, no reservations needed. During off-peak periods like weekday mornings, you can be in and out in as little as 20 minutes, depending on how long you take to hunt for the perfect patches.

For peak periods like Friday afternoons and all throughout the weekends, expect the store to fill up with quite the crowd. Waiting times can stretch up to 1-2 hours when it gets busy, since every Jellycat is carefully and lovingly pressed with patches by on-site staff. While waiting, you can stroll around New Bahru and check out its other lifestyle stores and F&B outlets.

There’s plenty to see and do at New Bahru, which spans over 20,000sqft.

Also, do take note that with such a steady demand for the customised Jellycat service, some patches may be temporarily out of stock. Shoot them a message via the Sea Apple Instagram page for a quick check before your visit. They also have a dedicated IG reel with regular updates on stock status, including the availability of the Jellycat bunny “bases”.
