Cedele started out as a single Singaporean bakery in 1997. Since then, it has become a destination for delicious, nutritious food with outlets across Singapore and Hong Kong. They champion naturally healthy ingredients and time-honoured, artisan techniques.
Cedele’s principled approach means that they don’t use artificial ingredients and there is absolutely no trans fat. Each and every ingredient is carefully selected for its nutritional richness and exceptional flavour.
This year, Cedele is back again with special offerings for Easter 2014 with some exciting seasonal creations to whet our appetite for healthy living.
Those who prefer their sweets can sink their teeth into the new delectable Hummingbird Cake. A unique Banana Cake with Pineapple, Cream Cheese Frosting, Dark Chocolate and Pecan Nuts also tastefully sweetened with Organic Unrefined Sugar, an ingredient used in all Cedele baked goods.
Even though the description of the cake sounded a little unique, with sweet chocolate and cream paired together with tropical fruits like pineapple and banana, the final outcome turned out to be surprisingly delectable. The outer layer of frosting was really sweet, but the fragrant taste of banana was still very much deep-rooted in the cake. The pineapple bits lent a source of citric tang to the cake, giving it a rich yet pleasing overall taste.
Familiar favorites Classic, Apple Cinnamon and Chocolate Walnut together with savory creation Cheese Onion Mustard Hot Cross Buns make a return to their menu, packing a flavorful yet guiltless punch.
The hot favourite among all us was the Cheese Onion Mustard Hot Cross Bun. The fragant smell of onion and cheese wafted to our noses even before we opened the box. The savoury Cheese Onion Mustard Hot Cross Bun packed a strong flavour, with the bread itself being really soft and moist, so it got our votes for the best Hot Cross Bun flavour.
On the other hand, the Chocolate Walnut bun was a little lacklustre compared to its other counterparts. I’m a huge fan of chocolate flavoured buns, but this was quite disappointing. The bun was a tad too dry, and it would have been better if the taste of chocolate was stronger.
The Apple Cinnamon was decent. However, the bun can do better with a little more apple flavour as it seems to be slightly overpowered by the taste of cinnamon. The Classic Hot Cross Bun was another crowd-pleaser. The bread is moist and fluffy, and the bits of dried fruits such as raisins embedded in it gave it an addictive taste.
