Those who get their daily kopi from hawker stalls will know that the taste of traditional coffee is hard to replicate at home – even with a coffee machine. It requires a slew of knowledge ranging from the type of beans used, equipment needed to various roasting and grinding techniques. 

If you’re interested in learning the craft so you can impress your guests or brew your own without heading to a kopitiam, the Traditional Coffee Workshop by Nanyang Old Coffee will let you try your hand at making your very own cuppa. You’ll also get to delve into the history and culture of coffee-making while indulging in a variety of hawker delights.

Go on a private tour that includes SG’s oldest Chinese temple

For those who aren’t familiar with the Telok Ayer area, AMOYis adjoined to one of Singapore’s oldest Chinese temple, Fuk Tak Chi Museum. Whether you’re a history buff or are looking for a unique cultural experience, the complimentary Fuk Tak Chi Museum Private Tour is like a time machine whisking you back to the olden days. 

The quaint building dates back all the way to 1820, where Cantonese and Hakka immigrants gave thanks to the deity, Tua Pek Kong, for a safe journey to Singapore. Within the museum, you’ll get a glimpse of how life in Chinatown was like back then for immigrants and our ancestors’ generation, with rich stories told through accompanying artifacts on display.

You’ll also be able to immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Chinatown with a Mural Walk through the precinct from Chinatown, Telok Ayer, Ann Siang to Club Street. 

Part of the tour takes you through the alleys featuring vibrant street art while explaining the history behind each showcase. Plus, these murals also make ‘Gram-worthy photo spots for you and your staycay companion to take advantage of. 

Foodies will be glad to know that part of the tour includes visits to local F&B outlets, providing new additions to your list of makan haunts. Do note that the Mural Walk is subject to weather conditions and limited to a maximum of two couples a day. To ensure a slot for the tour, book ASAP upon checking in at AMOY’s Front Office.

What’s a staycay without going all-out with good food and indulgence? Transport yourself to the Land of the Rising Sun with some fresh seafood at JIN Fine Dining, AMOY’s in-house Japanese restaurant. Dig into Chinese desserts & join a tea workshop

Live the tai tai life you’ve always dreamed of through the Tea Appreciation Workshop by Tea Chapter, a local tea house specialising in traditional tea practices. 

Apart from sipping on different types of tea – ranging from black and floral to oolong – while you HTHT with your girlfriends, you’ll also get to learn the intricate art of brewing, and the characteristics of different tea leaves so you can bring home a new skill and niche knowledge to impress your friends.

The workshop also comes with complimentary Chinese desserts like Lychee Tea Jelly and Osmanthus Tea Jelly to enjoy along with the tea.
