Expenses needed for COVID-19 tests can be quite high, especially for those who might be struggling financially. Princ Hospital Suvarnabhumi has just launched their Taxi Hero Campaign to help make testing services more accessible to local taxi drivers.

Local taxi drivers under these 3 conditions are eligible for a free COVID-19 test:

  • Has a valid driving license
  • Has a body temperature of above 37.5°C, cough, difficulty in breathing, been in contact with previous COVID-19 patients, or offer services to travellers from high-risk countries
  • Residing in or working in these areas: Bang Na, Bang Kaew, Bang Phli, Suvarnabhumi Airport or Samut Prakan province

To get the free COVID-19 check, taxi drivers are required to register online at the hospital’s website and are required to wait for an appointment to be scheduled. The free service will be provided only for ten drivers a day.

A person under investigation (PUI) who has explicit symptoms such as fever, cough and past experience with COVID-19 infections will be tested in a negative pressure room for the physicians’ safety.

Besides the free COVID-19 tests for local taxi drivers, the hospital also provides normal drive-through tests for the general public at ฿5,500 per person. They will receive their results via email within 24-36 hours.

We’re glad to see a medical organisation trying to help those from lesser-privileged financial backgrounds have easier access to COVID-19 checks.
