As Thailand’s COVID-19 cases are going up, many people have started to take their own health more seriously, especially in fear of unknowingly being infected. 

To ease your mind, here’s a list of hospitals in Bangkok where you can get tested for COVID-19.  

Note: There’s a possibility that prices might differ for locals and foreigners, as well as for individual cases. Do make sure to give a hospital a call to double-check before your appointment.

18. Ramkhamhaeng Hospital – drive-thru test

To reduce direct contact with other patients, you can also get tested for COVID-19 at a drive-thru testing station at Ramkhamhaeng Hospital.

Once you’re there, you don’t need to step out of the vehicle. Just roll down your window and allow the staff member to take a sample from your nasal cavity and throat. Then, the hospital will send your sample to a laboratory for examination.

The results will be sent to you via e-mail, SMS, and the hospital’s app after 5 – 8 hours from when your sample has been collected. If you come here in the afternoon, you’ll get the result the following morning. 

Due to huge demand of people wanting to get tested, you must leave your phone number with the hospital’s inbox on Facebook and wait for a scheduled appointment via SMS. This way, the hospital can manage a huge number of people per day and deliver fast service.

High-risk people get tested for free


If a person is classified as a “high-risk” patient, that person can get tested for COVID-19 for free. According to Thairath, you’ll have to fall under one of these categories to be grouped as such:

  1. Have a body temperature higher than 37.5 ํ Celsius, along with a respiratory problem including coughing, sore throat, runny nose, and breathing difficulty.
  2. Recently arrived from high-risk countries including China, South Korea, Iran, and Italy.
  3. Been in close contact with travellers from high-risk countries.
  4. Been in close contact with those tested positive for COVID-19
  5. Healthcare workers who came across COVID-19 patients.

The website also includes information on the patients’ status, hospitals that are open for testing, as well as clarifications on any false rumours regarding the situation.

If you’re in a high-risk group, we urge you to visit any hospital on the list. For those who are not at risk, it’s highly advisable to remain calm and protect yourself by avoiding going to crowded areas, washing hands regularly, and wearing masks – be strong and safe, everyone
