Free Covid-19 tests in Thailand

Thailand saw a rise of over 1000 Covid-19 cases this week. With local governments implementing lockdown measures, the situation appears to be escalating.

In response, The Department of Health and Service Support asked hospitals across the country to administer Covid-19 tests and treatment, free of charge, to high-risk groups, as reported by The Phuket News.

Private hospitals asked to assist

Dr. Thares Krassanairawiwong, Director General of Thailand’s Department of Health and Service stated, “At-risk people who want to be tested for the virus can receive a free test at any hospital. If they test positive for COVID-19, they will be treated free of charge.”

This is in line with the policies of the Ministry of Public Health. The Ministry expressed that Covid-19 patients, and those directly exposed to the virus, are eligible to free tests and treatment at any hospital – public or private.

The story is still developing, stay tuned for updates.
