Significant drop in number of new COVID-19 cases


This past week, Thailand has seen daily coronavirus cases rise by the hundreds. The number today is much lower – 46.

On 23rd December, the National News Bureau of Thailand reported that out of 46 new cases, 39 of those were transmitted locally.

The case numbers per city are as follows:

  • 11 in Bangkok
  • 5 in Chachoengsao
  • 3 in Nakhon Pathom
  • 2 in Kamphaeng Phet
  • 2 in Tak
  • 2 in Prachinburi
  • 2 in Phra Nakhon Si Ayuttaya
  • 2 in Samut Prakarn
  • 2 in Saraburi
  • 1 in Petchaburi
  • 1 in Krabi
  • 1 in Pathum Thani
  • 1 in Phuket
  • 1 in Suphan Buri

Safety protocols imposed across Thailand


While the number has fallen today, many governors continue to take strict measures to prevent the spread. Samut Songkhram is on lockdown, and other cities have called for New Years festivities to be put on hold.

As always, it’s important to be mindful of the disease. Wear a mask, avoid crowded places, and wash your hands with soap frequently.
