Cheap Thai buffet restaurant

There is a saying among Thai that there is nothing in this world that is good and cheap; well, to whoever says that, this restaurant begs to differ. Krua Sri Fah is a small Thai food restaurant located near Nawamin, the northern rim of Bangkok.

What makes this restaurant so special is that this restaurant serves a long line of delicious Thai dishes buffet. From Thailand’s famous Tom Yum soup, Kanhom Chin and Green Curry, to Khao Mun Gai, you can have it all for ฿59 (~USD1.95) – less than two dollars for an authentic Thai food buffet.

Authentic Thai food buffet line

When you walk into Krua Sri Fah, the very first thing you will notice is the long buffet table that stretches all the way across the right side of the restaurant. The buffet line is divided into three main sections – the rice, the mains and the soups. The dishes vary day by day.

There are a lot of main options for you to choose from, from grilled and boiled chicken that you can make Kao Mun Gai with, to stir-fried pork with garlic and assorted vegetables. The soups section is also marvelous, with soups like Tom Yum Goong and Green Curry to satisfy your authentic Thai food cravings.

There is also Kanhom Chin available today, in which we find it very satisfying. The buffet does include still water but soft drinks and teas are up for an additional cost.

Food tastes as good as it looks

There are two dining sections at Krua Sri Fah, outdoor dining and an air-conditioned area. For this review, I tried Kao Mun Gai with stir-fried pork, chicken sticks and Larb Mhoo, a famous north-eastern spicy pork salad. The taste is nothing short of delicious and authentic.

The restaurant runs with self-service where customers are required to grab the plates, take what you crave, dine and put the plates away on your own. After that, you pay the restaurant ฿59 (~USD1.95) – a very cheap price compared to other restaurants that served similar dishes.

How do I get there?

Unfortunately, Krua Sri Fah is not located near any of the BTS nor MRT stations and there are no delivery options available. So the best way to grab the deliciousness at Krua Sri Fah is to drive there or take a taxi. There is plenty of parking space in front of the restaurant so you should be good.
