Kurathai Shokudo – CT Cafeteria

In a small alley right next to EmQuartier is a Japanese restaurant called Kurathai Shokudo, a.k.a CT Cafeteria, with a variety of affordable dishes.

What makes this humble eatery stand out from Japanese restaurants out there is that customers can enjoy a free buffet of side dishes to accompany their delicious main course meals with an ample time limit of 1.5hrs.

Affordable dishes

Most items on the menu are priced at ฿199 (~USD6.50), except a few special dishes such as Kabayaki (฿299, ~USD10), or grilled eel on rice.

We ended up getting the Hambagu, a Japanese patty steak with fried egg and tomato sauce, and Tonkatsu; yummy fried pork.

While Tonkatsu was up to standard, the Hambugu was what scored full points on my list. The beef-and-pork patty was rich and came with a decadent runny fried egg which made each bite creamier than the last. The sweet and sour tomato sauce went well with the meal too.

Moving on to the side dish buffet, I was surprised by how many choices the eatery had to offer.

We spotted dishes like salad, tofu, pickled veggies, miso soup, steamed Japanese rice, curry, drinking water, and even S-Pure chicken eggs for us to have with our meals.

Everything we tried was fresh and delicious – but keep a special lookout for the veggie curry. This has such a yummy ‘umami’ flavour to it, I almost got full eating this before I even got to my mains.

Great eatery for any occasions
