4sky Chiang Mai

Bangkok is teeming with rooftop bars and skyscrapers that offer unparalleled views of the city’s hustle and bustle – without actually having to be in it. TBH, this writer uses sky bars as a place to temporarily ‘escape’ from the chaos.

While being high-up above the expressways can make one feel like they’re just a little outside of the city, it’s no match for a getaway in the mountains. If the last four words of that sentence especially resonated with you, then we’d suggest reading on to find out about our pick for a nature escape in Chiang Mai, 4Sky.

More Chiang Mai getaways:

Guests can bask in Northern Thailand’s iconic seas of fog from the hotel’s lodge-style cafe or from the balconies that each bubble dome offers.

Bubble domes with outdoor bathtubs

This private mountain resort offers only four bubble domes, each offering a balcony with a private outdoor bathtub.

Even though there are only four ‘neighbouring’ rooms, visitors are ensured maximum privacy – there are bamboo partitions between the different domes.

The domes come also come with semi-outdoor bathrooms, air conditioning, fans and even a heater for when it gets a bit nippy. Yes, it sometimes gets cold in Thailand.

Each dome is decorated with neutral tones, fluffy rugs and a Marshall speaker for guests to blast their tunes.

On the balcony, visitors will find their private bathtub that overlooks the mountains.

Unless they’re staying in the resort’s sole Luxury Dome, which gives visitors a fancy-schmancy jacuzzi and net hammock.

A night in the Luxury Dome starts from ฿6,900 (~USD206).

If you’re all right with a bathtub instead of a jacuzzi, and no net hammock on your balcony, then you can opt for the Premium Dome. The resort has three Premium Domes and a night in one of these start at ฿4,400 (~USD131).

The mountains are calling

With the Songkran holidays just around the corner and the Bangkok heat getting more and more brutal, there’s very little holding us back from planning a getaway up north.

TBH, just the thought of soaking in warm water while watching the fog roll in over Chiang Mai’s mountains has our cursors hovering over the “Message” button to book our stay on the resort’s Facebook page.

Regardless of the time of year, we can say with certainty that the mountains are always a good idea.
