TuktukX Allows Tuk Tuk Drivers To Be Deliverymen During COVID-19

Many workers have been affected because of the spread of COVID-19, especially taxi and tuk tuk drivers due to people hardly leaving their homes and being out and about for safety reasons

However, we’ve seen organisations come together to provide job opportunities for these drivers. Now, over 50 tuk tuk drivers have been given the chance to become delivery drivers under TukTukX, helping them get some extra income in this hard time.

Nawarat Hospitality Company used to host different tuk tuk tours such as the ‘Midnight Food Tour’ with participating drivers.

With the recent COVID-19 situation, there are no travellers around, which has caused a dip in business for both the company as well as tuk tuk drivers.

As a result, the company together with Smiling Tuk Tuk came up with the ‘Urban Tree’ project, which offers people modern-style plants suitable for indoor decorations. They’ve also brought tuk tuk drivers on board to deliver these products to customers.

After this, many customers asked about the same-day delivery service, which prompted the company to launch TukTukX – an alternative delivery service that focuses on same-day deliveries.

They target SMEs and local businesses that are unable to afford rates set by bigger delivery service providers.

Now, there are around 50 tuk tuks and drivers available with the delivery fees from ฿180, depending on the distance travelled.

All drivers have also been trained in customer service, and practice the proper measures to take during the outbreak such as wearing a face mask and keeping clean at all times.
