The COVID-19 situation in Thailand seems to get more stable as the number of infections daily has been seeing a decline, and with no deaths reported yesterday. As our lives slowly get back on track, Thailand is planning to activate the second phase of measures and bring back 8 business types to normal.

Businesses to reopen once plan approved

On 8th May 2020, Dr. Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai, director-general of the Disease Control Department, chaired a meeting at the Disease Control Department to discuss the upcoming plans to ease the lockdown.

Now that the daily number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand remains under 10 cases over the past couple of days, this signals a good chance for the second phase to come into effect.

The committee agreed that 8 important businesses should reopen soon.

The businesses that will open after the plan is approved, include:

  1. Food shops and restaurants
  2. Shopping centres
  3. Massage places and spas
  4. Beauty salons and clinics
  5. Fitness centres, indoor stadiums, and gyms
  6. Conference rooms in hotels or any organisations
  7. Film sets and modelling sets
  8. Amusement parks, Water Parks, and Playgrounds

However, this plan will only be implemented on 17th May 2020 under the condition that no new clusters arise and that the number of infections does not rise. So, be sure to wear a face mask in public spaces and wash your hands often to help mitigate the spread of the virus.
