Maggie Choo’s is a speakeasy-style bar that is situated under a hotel that features 19th-century colonial art and architecture, giving it a dramatic flair.

If you come early enough, you can reserve a private room. These are hidden behind huge vaulted doors that open to reveal brick-walled rooms that look like a secret lair.

Maggie Choo’s hosts its famous drag show every Sunday with fun games, free shots, and drink deals. Entry fee is ฿500 and it includes 1 free drink. 3.Telephone Pub and Karaoke – pub that’s over 30-years-old

Start your pre-drinks session at Telephone Pub and Karaoke, a 2-storey bar and restaurant that has been in Silom for more than 30 years.

Long before meeting apps were invented, Telephone Pub was a place for men to meet. There would be a telephone on each table, and if you saw someone you fancied sitting at another table, you could simply get their table number from the waiter and give them a ring!

“House of Drag Queens” is The Stranger Bar’s slogan, and it’s a perfect description of this place.

Even on weekday nights, you’re likely to run into a queen or two if you find yourself in Silom Soi 4. But the fun really happens on the weekends, when there’s a parade of fierce and fab queens werking it around the place and inviting people to join their lip-sync shows. Each queen comes with a bag full of personality and talents, so you can expect different vibes from each and everyone of them – whether humourous, sexy, or fierce. A lot of them have also been on Drag Race Thailand, so you know where to go if you’re a fan.

Welcome to White Rabbit, another perfect place to pre-drink before dancing your heart out in the club. It’s also very convenient since it’s located near the famous gay clubs in Silom Soi 2 where most people go after.

Filled with a old Hollywood vibe, you’ll see portraits of old-school Hollywood stars hung on the walls with thick red and black carpets along the entrance.

Fake Club The Next Gen is the first place on our list that is not located in the famous Silom area, but in Ratchada. 

Although the club is mainly for gay men, it is still really popular among young Thai locals in general as the space often invites famous local comedians, singers, and DJs entertain its guests.

When there are no special guests, the place is often filled with male models to help hype everyone up. Yes please!

Welcome to HUGs Bar, a bar and club for the bear* gay-tizens of Bangkok. This place is not just a bar, but it’s also a community space for gay men to come and enjoy each other’s company. 

*In gay slang, “bear” is a term that refers to men of bigger, muscular build.

After walking through a small entrance, the stairs will lead you to the second floor where the party takes place in a green-lit room with a dance floor in the middle. There’s also a karaoke area for vocalists to show their singing skills off to the crowd – do it and someone might buy you a free drink!

The Balcony is another great bar with a wallet-friendly menu. It also has an outdoor seating area next to Silom Soi 4. In fact, this bar is situated right opposite Telephone Pub, meaning you pop on over a la pub crawl.

9.DJ Station – most famous gay club in Bangkok


DJ Station is arguably the most visited gay club in Bangkok and it probably is the ultimate destination of many party animals who land in Thailand’s capital.

The music here is mostly techno, trance, and house so if you’re into those tunes, you’ll be pumped up all night. Every night, there is a special drag show that starts at midnight to kickstart everybody’s night out with a bang.

Unlike other places on the list, The Babylon Bangkok is neither a club nor a bar. It’s actually a leisure complex that includes saunas, a fitness centre, restaurants and bars, and a huge pool with a garden view.

This place often throws popular pool parties that attract local and international crowds alike. Most of the time, they come up with themes like Songkran or Halloween. Beside pool parties, Babylon occasionally hosts raving foam parties too.

Silom: Bangkok’s best known gay area


During the day, Silom takes on a serious role as one of the city’s main CBD districts. But when the sun goes down, she transforms into a neighbourhood full of character and is known as Bangkok’s gay district to people from all over the world.

While bars and restaurants are scattered around Silom, its actual heart lies between Soi 2 to 4, which houses more popular gay bars and clubs. It is also really near the BTS and MRT stations, making it a convenient place to get to.

Silom doesn’t offer just clubs and bars either. There’s Patpong Night Market – a huge market that stretches from Patpong Road all the way to Surawong Road. Here, you can shop for Thai-style souvenirs as well as some fashionable clothes.
