Big Bad Wolf Online Book Sale Is Back For Independence Day With Free Shipping & Up To 90% Off Books

Big Bad Wolf online book sale runs from 7th August until 17th August

The common refrain among self-deprecating Indonesians is that we aren’t big readers. And yet, year after year, the number of excited book lovers pushing cartloads of books during the Big Bad Wolf book sale grows even bigger.

It’s only appropriate then, with the pandemic making us hermits, that the fourth Big Bad Wolf book sale of the year is going online and delivering to our doorsteps this year. Celebrating Indonesia’s 75th year of Independence, the Big Bad Wolf online book sale is set to run from 7th August to 17th August.

As with previous online events, the sale is set to take place on Tokopedia. To sweeten the deal for online book shoppers who pay with BCA debit and credit cards, they’ll get an additional discount of up to 10% on their purchases.

This third online sale, and fourth overall after the physical bazaar held in March, is set to be the biggest so far with the event running for 11 days. Organizers have also promised a bigger stock of books to ensure no one’s missing out.

If you’re worried about racking up massive delivery charges, rest assured that free shipping is provided up to Rp. 20,000 (~USD 1.37) for those living in Java and up to Rp.40,000 (~USD 2.74) for the rest of Indonesia.

For a look on what books are available, the Big Bad Wolf Instagram page regularly gives out recommendations and the Tokopedia page is already up with more than enough books to last you through the pandemic.

When it comes to selection, Big Bad Wolf tends to lean more on the eclectic. Generally, it’s always best to keep an open mind and simply browse what’s available rather than aiming for one particular book.

To make sure you’re getting the right books, always keep an open tab with Goodreads open. Unlike the physical book bazaar, where Internet access tends to be spotty because of the huge crowd, looking up information on books is thankfully easier during the online sale.

With prices being so low, Big Bad Wolf is the perfect time to expand your library beyond what you’re usually used to.

Books in the time of a pandemic

With COVID-19 making hermits out of all of us, it’s no surprise that interest in reading has spiked among Indonesians. Even Presiden Jokowi chimed in, asking us how many books we’ve read during the pandemic on National Book Day.

Head over to Tokopedia for your next book shopping spree, and start clearing up some space on your shelf.
