Locals come together to fix road
Roads in Thailand might not always be known for being smooth, even when they’re around popular tourist spots that have lots of visitors on the go. This monk from Tam Sua Wipatsana Temple in Krabi decided to team up with some locals to make the area’s roads safer for people to drop by the neighbourhood.

They worked under Thailand’s crazy heat to make the bumpy roads smoother

On 30 October 2019, pictures and a video of Phrakru Phawanathikun, a monk, and fellow villagers who were working on a bumpy road were shared on the Thai interwebs.
This was an idea by the kind-hearted monk who decided to use some donations to make the lives of both the area’s villagers and visitors better.
The monk was helped by some local volunteers who have always been serving the temple. Volunteering at temples is normal in Thai-Buddhist culture to do. They gradually filled potholes on the road around the temple, filling up to several holes a day with asphalt. Since there were quite a number of potholes, it took a couple of days for them to finish the job. Finally, the road was fixed and it became safer for drivers and riders to travel on.

Helping the community any way we can
When asked about this, the monk said that it was no big deal. He just wanted to do his part to help his community and allow visitors to come to the temple safely.
Not every road is smooth and safe for drivers to be on, especially during harsh weather like rain and extreme heat. So be sure you stay safe!
