Mass shooting in Thailand mall
Thai folks woke up this morning with heavy hearts after witnessing one of the most ruthless public shooting incidents in recent years.
Last night, a man walked into Robinson Shopping Mall in Lopburi and headed straight to a gold shop situated near the entrance. He had a pistol with a silencer screwed onto its muzzle.

Once inside, he started to shoot passersby who were standing in his path before smashing the gold display and taking away some valuables that were in there. He then jumped on his red and white scooter and fled the scene.

The man was seen on the security camera footage wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, camo pants, and a black mask to cover his identity.
3 people died in the shooting
As a result, 3 people were killed on the spot, including a security guard, a staff member, and a 2-year-old boy who was just walking with his parents. 4 other people were seriously injured by gun wounds and were sent to a nearby hospital.
Since the news broke, Thai netizens have been expressing very mixed emotions of grief and anger. Many were sending condolences to the victim’s family while some others were fuming with rage and speculations.
Translation: This is definitely not a normal robbery, this is an active shooting. This is a terrorist act.
Translation: What this man did was well prepared and professional with the outfit and silencer. What a thoughtless piece of ****. Why would you kill random people just for some gold?
Translation: All these people were just enjoying their evening…he should be caught dead.
Police are on the hunt to catch shooter
The police have since been on the mission to identify and capture the shooter. They also set a cash reward worth ฿100,000 ( ~USD3,300) to anyone who can lead to the suspect’s arrest.
If you’re in the Lopburi area and have any information, don’t hesitate to contact the police hotline 191 or 1599 – both available 24/7.
Our hearts are with the victims’ family and every person who has been affected by this horrendous act. We hope that justice will soon be served.
