While the festival is celebrated throughout the nation, Sukhothai is believed to be where Loi Krathong originated from, according to mainstream history.

This is why the province’s Loi Krathong event is the talk of the town every year.

This popular festival is being celebrated differently throughout Thailand. While the central folks send off the offerings including flowers and candles onto the waters, northern people tend to float their lanterns into the sky. – this is the common practice in the north during auspicious events like New Year or Loi Krathong.
