The world is no stranger to weird food trends. Last year, Thailand had a TikTok trend challenging people to eat raw roti dough which turned out to be a serious health problem.

This time, foodies have a new recipe that has left many befuddled.

Grill and eat it like a corn

Recently, Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company featured a video that showed viewers how to cook a grilled sunflower head.

In the video, they started by picking a sunflower and removing all the seeds out. Then, they coated the head with oil and grilled it on a charcoal strove.

At the end of the video, one of the team members also showed that the item was actually edible by enjoying it just as one would eat a cob of grilled corn.

Netizens say it triggers trypophobia

Netizens left tons of comments under the video. Some said that it looks delicious and would like to try it out for themselves.

However, not everyone is that excited. News websites reported that the video was shared in Facebook groups, where users mentioned that it made them feel scared – possibly triggering a fear of holes, aka trypophobia. (Do not Google that if you want to sleep tonight…or ever)

While this recipe might seem strange, there are no claims that it is unsafe to eat. So if you want to give it a try, just make sure that your flower is clean without insecticide and other chemical substances before cooking.

This is a recipe for adventurous foodies to go beyond their comfort zones!
