The world knows Bangkok as a bustling metropolis full of street food and fun things to do. But sometimes, getting around the city is difficult – especially when there are traffic jams that seem to last forever.

But don’t worry. That doesn’t mean walking is the only way to get around the city to escape the jam and chaos. Here are 8 bike routes in and around BKK with relaxing activities like cycling, jogging, and even pedal boating.


1.Wachirabenchathat Park – near Chatuchak market

Wachirabenchathat Park is an old-school park in the Chatuchak area of Bangkok. It’s one of the best places in the city to hide from the chaos, and it’s really popular with locals for its scenic cycling paths.

Get ready to whizz through rows and rows and trees beneath the warm sunlight – heavenly.

You can also try other activities like pedal boating, basketball, and even tennis!

Right around the corner is the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market, so don’t forget to pop by if you’re here over the weekends.

2. Happy and Healthy Bike Lane – next to airport runway

Previously known as Sky Lane Thailand, Happy and Healthy Bike Lane is a newly reopened and revamped bike trail that is right next to Suvarnabhumi Airport.

This is probably the most unique park on the list, as you’ll be able to see planes taking off and landing as you cycle around! You surely won’t be able to find this anywhere else.

The bike lanes stretch to a whopping 23.5km and are nicely separated into different lanes for pro-cyclists and those who just want a relaxing bike ride around the area. There’s also an assembly point for people to meet and cycle together.

3. Nong Bon Lake & Water Sports Centre – floating football field

One look at this Nong Bon Lake whatever stress you’re feeling will disappear for sure. It’s also known for its water activities, so if you’re up for it, you can enjoy things like kayaking and windsurfing when here.

The best part? It’s for free! You’ll just need to apply for an annual membership, and fees are pretty cheap:

  • Over 18 years old: ฿40
  • Ages 8-18: ฿10

4. Kung Bang Ka Chao – amidst lush greenery

Hidden away from Bangkok city is Kung Bang Kra Chao, the largest green space near Bangkok. Coming here will make you feel like you’re exploring a lush tropical jungle – and no surprise, this park is named as the The Best Urban Oasis of Asia.

Located just on the other side of the Chao Phraya River, here is where many Bangkokians come to have a restful break.

The bike path here is nice and wide, flanked by trees and quaint houses along the way. Once you’re done biking around, you can visit the nearby Bang Nam Pheung Market to fuel up with some good food and desserts.

5. Peppermint Bike Park – for a family day out

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing bike ride or someone who wants something a bit more extreme, Peppermint Bike Park has something for you. 

There are 2 bike trails here: The Adventure Track and the Mint Track

It you’re looking for something exciting, then grab your bike and head to the Adventure Track. Here’s where you can challenge yourself with adrenaline-pumping obstacles like steep hills and sharp turns.

Novice cyclers can try the Mint Track instead. This is a smooth blue-coloured bike trail that’s great for families and young children to cycle together.

Once you’re done working up a sweat, head to the park’s Mint Cafe to cool down with some drinks.

6. Benjakitti Park – gorgeous skyline views

Benjakitti Park is a beautiful green spot right in the heart of Bangkok city. It’s also a very photogenic spot, so be prepared to take some photos of the skyline while making your way around the park.

Popular with cyclists, the park roughly stretches out to 1.8km to bike around. You’ll be able to appreciate both the city view as well as the greenery while at it.

You can also rent a pedal boat at this park, which costs ฿30 for half an hour. Wait till sunset for the best riverside views of the city.

7. Wareephirom Park – quiet park away from the city

Wareephirom Park is located in Bangkok’s eastern side that’s away from the city bustle. The park has a 4.2km long bike path where cyclists can cruise along the river and enjoy some fresh air. Visitors can also enjoy other activities like sailing and fish feeding here.

This location sits a bit further from the heart of BKK, meaning you will have new places to explore. Coming here on the weekends with friends or family is a great idea.

8. King Rama IX Park – scenic water activities

King Rama IX Park is one of Bangkok’s most photogenic parks – and the largest! With beautiful flowers, a huge lake, and its landmark pavilions, this is a popular place for locals to come to relax and exercise.

Cycling enthusiasts can call their fellow bike buddies to enjoy the 600m route along the park. It’s clear of any joggers or people taking walks, so you can cycle to your heart’s content without any human obstacles.

Aside from cycling, you can also go jogging and kayaking. We definitely recommend going on a pedal boat ride before you leave. Called Rue Ped, which roughly translates to “duck boat” (or in this case, swan), you can have a relaxing ride around the river at ฿40 for 30 minutes.

Do note that the park currently does not have any bicycle rental services, so visitors will have to bring their own bikes.
