Teacher became a lawyer to sue his school after he was fired<\/h2>\n

Since ancient times, teachers have been held in high regard in Vietnam. For many people in the occupation, it\u2019s more than a job. It\u2019s a noble calling \u2013 a privilege \u2013 to guide and nurture a new generation.<\/p>\n

Therefore, one teacher has gone above and beyond to get his job back after he was fired. Believing his school\u2019s decision to fire him was unjust, he became a lawyer to sue them<\/strong>, and finally won the case after 15 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

He hit a student for their bad attitude and was fired<\/h3>\n

As Lao \u0110\u1ed9ng<\/a> reported, in 2006, Mr. L\u00ea Cao T\u00e1nh, then a teacher at Nguy\u1ec5n Du High School in \u0110\u00e0 L\u1ea1t City, spotted a student cursing and chastised the student. In return, the student insulted him.<\/p>\n

In his anger, Mr. T\u00e1nh hit the student, causing a nosebleed. Nguy\u1ec5n Du High School, as quoted by Ph\u00e1p Lu\u1eadt Online<\/a>, deemed his action as \u201cgoing against educational purposes and damaging to the school\u2019s reputation\u201d and saw it fit to fire him.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Mr. T\u00e1nh admitted to his wrongdoing, but did not think it warranted the termination of his contract. \u201cI realize my action was ill-advised, but it is against the law for the school to fire me,\u201d he told Lao \u0110\u1ed9ng<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As such, Mr. T\u00e1nh sued the school, asking them to take back the decision.<\/p>\n

And thus began a long legal journey that\u2019d change his life.<\/p>\n

Between 2007 to 2011, Mr. T\u00e1nh\u2019s plea was rejected by the People\u2019s Court of \u0110\u00e0 L\u1ea1t, and then the People\u2019s Court of L\u00e2m \u0110\u1ed3ng Province.<\/p>\n

Unrelenting, he studied law to continue pursuing the case, going so far as to become an official lawyer in 2010.<\/p>\n

All his effort didn\u2019t go to waste, as in 2011, the Supreme People\u2019s Court of Vietnam dismissed the previous judgements and wanted the case revisited in Mr. T\u00e1nh\u2019s favor.<\/p>\n

In 2013, the People\u2019s Court of \u0110\u00e0 L\u1ea1t accepted Mr. T\u00e1nh\u2019s request, and decided that Nguy\u1ec5n Du High School must take him back as a teacher. However, the school objected, dragging the case further.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t until June 2021 that the final decision was made. According to this, Nguy\u1ec5n Du High School \u2013 which has now become Nguy\u1ec5n Du Secondary School \u2013 must restore Mr. T\u00e1nh to his teaching position and compensate him an amount of VND614.8 million (~USD26,700).<\/strong><\/p>\n

The final judgement marked an end to Mr. T\u00e1nh\u2019s 15-year-long journey to find his way back to being a teacher.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the school carries out the court\u2019s judgement responsibly, I\u2019ll go back to teaching. I\u2019ll temporarily halt my career as a lawyer, and if I have free time, I\u2019ll offer legal defenses for disadvantaged people,\u201d Mr. T\u00e1nh told Ph\u00e1p Lu\u1eadt Online<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Both sides of this legal case no doubt have their arguments, but after such a long time, we trust that the court has considered every scenario to come to the most reasonable judgment.<\/p>\n

In any case, Mr. T\u00e1nh\u2019s unrelenting effort to earn back his teaching job is commendable. Let\u2019s hope he can channel such intense passion to provide knowledge and guidance to many young minds out there.<\/p>\n
