Saigon reports its first COVID-19 death from a food cluster<\/strong><\/h2>\n

On 21st May 2021, Ho Chi Minh City announced a COVID-19 cluster in a food lane in District 3<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The source of infection originated from O Thanh Restaurant<\/strong>, whose owner and family members were all infected. <\/span>After initial detection, the family’s direct contacts were taken to dedicated COVID-19 facilities. <\/span><\/p>\n

Despite timely treatment, the 37-year-old daughter of the family, known as case 5463<\/strong>, passed away this morning. We summarize the story below.<\/span><\/p>\n

The patient had underlying health problems<\/strong><\/h3>\n

According to <\/span>Dan Tri<\/span><\/a><\/em>, the lady had underlying health problems such as kidney failure, heart failure, and high blood pressure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After testing positive for the virus, her health worsened rapidly and she underwent septic shock.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On the morning of 2nd June 2021, she passed away in the Ho Chi Minh Hospital For Tropical Diseases, officials confirmed.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the first recorded death in Ho Chi Minh City since the 4th wave of the COVID-19 pandemic struck in late April.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vietnam reports 50 new COVID-19 cases on 2nd June<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This morning, Vietnam reported over 50 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total tally since the beginning of the pandemic to 7,675.<\/p>\n

Amongst the new cases today, Bac Giang accounted for 48 domestic infections, while Saigon recorded 23 locally transmitted cases. <\/span>Medical workers are examining patients\u2019 travel records to trace the sources of infection, <\/span>Dan Tri<\/span><\/a><\/em> reports.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As of 2nd June 2021, Vietnam has had over 4,600 COVID-19 patients who are undergoing treatment and a total of 49 deaths.<\/p>\n

Saigon reports 1st COVID-19 death from food cluster<\/strong><\/h3>\n
\n

After the emergence of several COVID-19 clusters<\/a> in May, Saigon has seen a daily spike in the number of domestic infections. The city’s 1st COVID-19 death of the latest outbreak serves as a stern reminder of the danger of this pandemic. <\/span><\/p>\n
