Pronounced Nh\u1eadu Nh\u1eadu <\/em>in Vietnamese \u2013 meaning Drink Drink <\/em>\u2013 the bar is a tribute to the Vietnamese drinking\u00a0and\u00a0<\/em>food culture, as many of its drinks attempt to integrate local snacks and street food in the most bizarre of ways. Tucked away on the second floor of a restaurant on T\u00f4n Th\u1ea5t \u0110\u1ea1m Street, with a cozy atmosphere and nostalgic decor, Nhau Nhau<\/strong> is most known for is its innovative drinks, many of which draw inspiration from local flavors.<\/p>\n

The coconut worm shot (VND125,000, ~USD5.43)<\/strong>, for instance, features a blow-torched \u0111u\u00f4ng d\u1eeba<\/em> \u2013 a type of coconut larvae that\u2019s a local delicacy \u2013 served with a shot of rum, coconut milk, and interestingly enough, fish sauce.<\/p>\n

This combo is likely a reference to how many Vietnamese people like to eat these coconut larvae raw and wiggling, dipped in fish sauce.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the quail balut<\/strong> shot (VND125,000, ~USD5.43) <\/strong>is a combination of a traditional Bloody Mary and c\u00fat l\u1ed9n x\u00e0o me<\/em> \u2013 a well-loved Vietnamese street food dish in which quail balut are saut\u00e9ed with tamarind sauce.<\/p>\n

The drink includes local rice wine mixed with chili sauce and tamarind sauce, and served with a quail balut egg with pepper sprinkled on top. The idea might sound weird, but we\u2019ve got to say, it does a pretty good job capturing the essence of the snack.<\/p>\n
