Typhoon Goni to hit Vietnam next week<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As Central Vietnam is still reeling from the aftermath of <\/span>Typhoon Molave (Typhoon No. 9)<\/span><\/a>, including<\/span> landslides, extensive flooding<\/a>, <\/b>and <\/span>missing people, <\/b>a new storm is expected to crash in the region in a few days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the\u00a0National Center For Hydro \u2013 Meterological Forecasting<\/a>, the new storm, named Typhoon Goni and also known as Typhoon No. 10 and Typhoon Rolly, is <\/span>heading towards the South China Sea<\/b> and is predicted to <\/span>hit Central Vietnam by next week.<\/b><\/p>\n

The latest data on Zoom Earth<\/a> shows that Typhoon Goni is approaching the Philippines<\/strong> and is on its track to becoming a typhoon.\u00a0It is heading towards the South China Sea and will hit Vietnam by the end of next week, currently packing sustained winds <\/span>240KM per hour.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The center of Typhoon Goni is about west-northwest of the South Central Coast of Vietnam. Meteorologists predict that the typhoon will <\/span>weaken into a tropical storm<\/b> before it hits Central Vietnam on 3rd November.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, local authorities have still warned residents to make necessary preparations for Typhoon Goni, which may intensify on the way to Vietnam and come with a <\/span>\u00a0total rainfall of around 150-200 mm.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

For the past 2 days, Vietnamese soldiers and rescue teams have been digging through tons of mud and corrugated metal roofs to search for at least 50 landslide victims <\/b>who are feared dead<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Authorities are also expanding search and rescue efforts for 26 crew members<\/strong> on 13 fishing boats and cruises who had reportedly drowned during Typhoon Molave.<\/p>\n

3 crew members<\/strong> of a capsized fishing boat in Binh Dinh Province<\/strong> were rescued by <\/span>the crew members of MV\/Fortune Iris<\/b>, a cargo ship bearing the Hong Kong flag on its way to Japan from Singapore.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Typhoon Molave has caused severe destruction across Central Vietnam. Over<\/span> 88,000 houses were damaged<\/a> <\/b>along with <\/span>destroyed infrastructure<\/b><\/a> such as power lines<\/span>.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
