COVID-19 in Vietnam, update on 17th August<\/h2>\n

Since our last update on Friday<\/a>, Vietnam has recorded a jump of 53<\/strong> in its total COVID-19 patient tally, putting the total number of cases in the country to date at 964<\/strong>. The latest 2 patients were reported just this morning.<\/p>\n

The novel coronavirus also claimed 3 more lives on Saturday and Sunday, leaving Vietnam with 24 total fatalities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, though, 31 people<\/strong> previously diagnosed with the disease have been declared recoveries<\/strong>, including one man who was in critical condition.<\/p>\n

One of the two new cases reported this morning is a 30-year-old man from the northern city of H\u1ea3i D\u01b0\u01a1ng. On 3rd August, he dined at a local restaurant which was later identified as a COVID-19 cluster. Multiple other cases have been found to be linked to this restaurant, including several of its staff, and the concerning development has prompted H\u1ea3i D\u01b0\u01a1ng\u2019s authorities to put the entire city under a social distancing order<\/a>.<\/p>\n

51 other patients<\/strong> are reported over the weekend<\/strong>, most of whom are from the epicenter of \u0110\u00e0 N\u1eb5ng and its neighboring province Qu\u1ea3ng Nam. Specifically:<\/p>\n
