Vietnamese student returns lost money to owner<\/span><\/h2>\n

Money dropped along the roadside, mobile phones forgotten in a public place – people lose plenty of personal belongings<\/strong> every day in Vietnam. However, not every owner is lucky enough to have their items returned properly and in a timely<\/a> manner.<\/p>\n

For Mr \u0110\u1eb7ng Duy \u0110\u1ee9c<\/strong>, the lucky man in this story, his day couldn\u2019t have been more surprising and joyful when a young boy knocked on his door to return him VND50,000,000 (~USD2,061)<\/strong>, which he had unknowingly dropped on a road.<\/p>\n

The hero of this story is Th\u00e1i \u0110\u00ecnh Nh\u00e2n,<\/strong> a 10-year-old student <\/a>at \u0110a Kia B<\/a> primary school<\/a> in \u0110a Kia, B\u00f9 Gia M\u1eadp, B\u00ecnh Ph\u01b0\u1edbc in the south of Vietnam. On the morning of 4th July, while on his way home, Nh\u00e2n\u2019s sharp eyes spotted a thick stack of money under a truck<\/strong> parked on the side of the road.<\/p>\n

He picked it up, then went to the nearby houses to enquire if anyone had lost <\/strong>the money. Incredibly, he happened to knock on the door of Mr \u0110\u1eb7ng, the owner of the money who had no idea<\/strong> that he had dropped it along his way. He promptly examined his belongings and realized that the money was not where he expected in his house.<\/p>\n

In the presence of Mr \u0110\u1eb7ng\u2019s neighbors, Nh\u00e2n handed him the stack of money<\/strong> that he had lost in full, which was worth VND50,000,000 (~USD2,061), <\/strong>a considerably large amount of cash in Vietnam.<\/p>\n

Nh\u00e2n was rewarded for his kind gesture<\/span><\/h3>\n
\n

Touched by the honesty of Nh\u00e2n, Mr \u0110\u1eb7ng gave him VND1,000,000 (~USD42) as a token of thankfulness, but Nh\u00e2n refused to take it. <\/strong><\/p>\n

While chatting with the boy, Mr \u0110\u1eb7ng found out that Nh\u00e2n was from an underprivileged background. <\/strong>His struggling parents have to work far away from home to make ends meet, and Nh\u00e2n is currently living with his grandmother.<\/p>\n

Filled with admiration and affection for the boy, Mr \u0110\u1eb7ng gifted Nh\u00e2n\u2019s family with VND11,000,000 (~USD474.40) <\/strong>and offered to formally adopt Nh\u00e2n so that he could pay for his future education.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He also donated VND3,000,000 (~USD474.40) <\/strong>to Nh\u00e2n\u2019s school<\/a> to create a fund to encourage and <\/strong>reward students who perform kind deeds<\/strong><\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n

According to Nh\u00e2n\u2019s teacher, he is a good student who is keen to help others<\/strong>, and this is the second time he returned a lost item to its owner. On 6th July, <\/strong>Nh\u00e2n was awarded by the leaders of B\u00ecnh Ph\u01b0\u1edbc Province, where he lives, in a ceremony for his exemplary behavior.<\/p>\n

Nh\u00e2n\u2019s story restores our faith in humanity<\/a> and goes to show that good deeds don\u2019t go unnoticed. For doing the right thing even though no one had asked him to, he was richly rewarded with not just financial support for the rest of his academic life, but also a second father who truly cares for his family and the future generation in his community.<\/p>\n
