COVID-19 in Vietnam, update on 15th April 2020<\/h2>\n

Vietnam\u2019s nationwide effort to fend off the COVID-19 pandemic continues to bear fruit, as we are seeing more patients making recoveries by the day. Meanwhile, the number of new cases reported in daily updates has been minimal.<\/p>\n

Over the past 24 hours since our last update<\/a>, 23 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals, and only 2 new cases have been spotted.<\/p>\n

At the moment, Vietnam has 169 recoveries, 98 active cases, and no fatalities<\/strong>, adding up to 267 total COVID-19 cases<\/strong> recorded in the country to date.<\/p>\n

The two new cases reported in Vietnam are associated with the COVID-19 clusters of B\u1ea1ch Mai Hospital<\/strong> and H\u1ea1 L\u00f4i Hamlet<\/a><\/strong> in Hanoi.<\/p>\n

Case 266 is a 36-year-old woman living in Th\u01b0\u1eddng T\u00edn District, Hanoi. She was at the B\u1ea1ch Mai Hospital from 8th to 10th March to take care of her mother who was receiving treatment for health problems unrelated to COVID-19 there. She practiced self-quarantine at home<\/strong> from 30th March and was tested on 12th April. Her result came back positive yesterday.<\/p>\n

Case 267 is a 46-year-old man from the H\u1ea1 L\u00f4i Hamlet<\/a>, Hanoi. He is friends with Case 243, the first patient case spotted in the hamlet, who had visited him at his house on 20th March. He was confirmed positive yesterday. His wife and daughter had also been previously reported as cases 257 and 258.<\/p>\n

Since yesterday, 23 COVID-19 patients in Vietnam have tested negative at least 3 times in a row and were approved for discharge.<\/p>\n

17 of these were treated at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Hanoi, 5 were at the C\u1ee7 Chi Hospital in H\u1ed3 Ch\u00ed Minh City, and 1 was at the C\u1ea7u Treo General Hospital in the central province of H\u00e0 T\u0129nh.<\/p>\n

Most notably, 2 of the 17 from Hanoi were in critical health and required life support<\/strong> during treatment, but both have recovered and are in stable condition now<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The discharged patients will continue to be isolated for further monitoring in the next 14 days.<\/p>\n

Thanks to appropriate measures from the government<\/a> and contributions from the entire population<\/a>, Vietnam has done a good job in containing the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
