Hanoi hamlets locked down due to residents testing positive for COVID-19<\/h2>\n

Vietnam\u2019s success in containing the COVID-19 pandemic<\/a> has been praised worldwide. So far, the country has recorded only <\/span>251 COVID-19 cases, of whom 122 have made full recoveries<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

This impressive result is thanks in no small part to the Vietnamese government\u2019s quick and decisive responses to new developments. It has <\/span>locked down 2 hamlets with thousands of residents <\/b>in the capital city of <\/span>Hanoi <\/b>and the northern province of <\/span>H\u00e0 Nam <\/b>after new COVID-19 cases were discovered in these locations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>H\u1ea1 L\u00f4i Hamlet<\/b> in the <\/span>M\u00ea Linh District of Hanoi,<\/b> home to <\/span>nearly 11,000 citizens<\/b>, has been completely locked down after one of its residents tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new case, a 47-year-old man known as Patient 243, had visited the B\u1ea1ch Mai Hospital<\/strong>, currently the biggest COVID-19 cluster in Vietnam, on 12<\/span>th<\/span> March. On 30<\/span>th<\/span> March, upon hearing from the media that all who visited the B\u1ea1ch Mai Hospital between 10<\/span>th<\/span> and 28<\/span>th<\/span> of March must report their health condition, he reported to a local medical facility to comply with the call.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, as it had been over 14 days since he had visited the hospital, he was not quarantined<\/strong> and was only told to exert caution.<\/span><\/p>\n

Between 12<\/span>th<\/span> March and 6<\/span>th<\/span> April, <\/span>the patient came into contact with many people in the H\u1ea1 L\u00f4i hamlet <\/b>and also visited several locations in Hanoi, including 2 hospitals. This has caused major concern among people living in the area. Hundreds of people associated with him have been taken to quarantine facilities, and one of his neighbors has already been confirmed positive.<\/span><\/p>\n

Responding quickly to the situation, Hanoi authorities have issued a lockdown order to isolate the entire of H\u1ea1 L\u00f4i hamlet for 28 days, from today until 5<\/span>th<\/span> May.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a related development, another COVID-19 case was reported at the <\/span>H\u00e0 Nam General Hospital<\/b> in H\u00e0 Nam Province yesterday. This patient, a 64-year-old man, <\/span>had been in the hospital since 20<\/b>th<\/b> March to treat other health problems unrelated to COVID-19<\/b>, and the cause of his infection is still unclear.<\/span><\/p>\n

Local authorities called an emergency meeting immediately<\/b> after the case was reported to decide the best cause of action.<\/span> The entire hospital has been disinfected, and everyone associated with the patient<\/b>, including his relatives and medical staff who have worked with him, <\/span>is being monitored<\/b>. The <\/span>Ng\u00f4 Kh\u00ea Hamlet<\/b>, where this patient lives, has been <\/span>isolated <\/b>as well.<\/span><\/p>\n
