Starting from 16th March 2020, the Vietnamese government has made it mandatory<\/strong> for people to wear face masks when they go to public places<\/strong> as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the demand for face masks skyrocketing, the Vietnam Women’s Union has started a campaign to make face masks and distribute them for free in several provinces across the country. Many have stood up to answer the call, including a 95-year-old war widow.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the past couple of days, pictures of an old lady sitting by a sewing machine to make face masks have been widely shared among Vietnamese Facebook users, attracting thousands of positive reactions from the community.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lady in the pictures was soon revealed to be Mdm Ng\u00f4 Th\u1ecb Qu\u00fdt, a 95-year-old war widow living in G\u00f2 V\u1ea5p district, H\u1ed3 Ch\u00ed Minh City. She has also been making blankets from spare cloth collected from tailors in the area to give to charity for 3 decades.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I saw the women in the ward do it, so I wanted to contribute as well. It\u2019s always been like that, I do what I can to help. When people are in need and you have the heart, you find joy the more you do it!\u201d Mdm Qu\u00fdt told <\/span>tuoitre.vn<\/span><\/a><\/em> in an interview.<\/span><\/p>\n
