Wonton Here Lhor in Bangkok

You can find wontons in nearly every noodle shop on Bangkok’s streets and even from the frozen section of 7-11, but they’re only light snacks. It is quite the contrary at Wonton Here Lhor, where they serve double-sized wontons with rarer fillings besides the usual shrimp and pork.

Assorted fillings to choose from

These wontons are molded in batches beforehand and they go into the boiling pot by order. Simple preparation aside, these are one of the plumpest wontons around. The flour is mainly there to hold it together rather than compensate, so you can feel the shrimp meat’s chewiness. The ingredients come from Mahachai market, one of Thailand’s biggest seafood markets.

There are a selection of high-quality fillings to choose from and it’s only ฿10 (~USD0.30) per piece: shrimp roe, crab row, salted egg, salmon and shrimp.

But for a little more, you can get premium wonton fillings like crab claw (฿25, ~USD0.76), sea urchins (฿40, ~USD1.20), flying fish roe (฿25, ~USD0.76), and jumbo shrimp (฿20, ~USD0.61). Every order comes with complimentary shoyu sauce and Thai suki sauce, which is their own recipe.

Their wontons rival restaurant-tier wontons yet they were cheaper than ones from a convenient store. We recommend trying it yourself at the recently-opened Foodie Market Bangna.
