Urban Playground Climbing in Bangkok

We understand that you do feel bored from time to time on the weekend since you lack ideas on what you should do but the domestic chores. Subsequently, you start searching on Google to find somewhere to go and something to do to get rid of the boredom you have felt for a long period of time.

In our opinion, it would be a good idea if you try something new that you might never have done before, say rock climbing, to find out if it could be your new favorite hobby in every next weekend.

So, if this solution to dreary weekends piques your interest, Urban Playground Climbing is a gym in Bangkok with bouldering & top rope activities to get that adrenaline rush to overcome boredom during the day.

Generally, Urban Playground Climbing is part of The Racquet Club – a popular gym in Bangkok that offers various indoor sports – such as tennis, badminton, and swimming.

The place itself is a community for those who love extreme climbing and offers a spacious area filled with lofty walls to challenge themselves.

Also, Urban Playground Climbing allows all levels of climbers to participate in the activity. However, if you’re a newbie at climbing, we would suggest you ask for a partner which is offered at the site – to help and take care of you during the climb.

Please note that you’ll need to rent harnesses for ฿50 (~USD1) and climbing shoes for ฿100 (~USD2.7) that are essential for making your way up those walls.

Three terrain options: Bouldering, Top Rope & Lead Climbing

Importantly, this playground proffers three terrain options for climbers to choose based on their preference and experience.

To start off, bouldering is a terrain for short bouts of climbing without using any ropes or hiring any staff to help. You will be climbing on a short wall and a cave, but don’t worry about falling because they’ll provide crash mats to catch you if or when you fall. In spite of its short walls, we’re sure it won’t be an easy climb.

Another option you can go for if you’re not confident in your climbing skills is Top Rope, which will provide an auto rope device to prevent you from falling to the ground. Alternatively, you can hire a partner to control the rope for you for ฿500 (~USD13)/hour. At this terrain, you will be climbing on a larger wall, hence a higher thrill factor.

However, if you consider yourself an experienced climber, consider the Lead Climbing wall – a terrain that’ll let you climb up and hook the rope along the way by yourself, like real rock climbing. We’d recommend this to only professional climbers due to its difficulty.

For beginners who are interested in climbing but lack the basic knowledge, there are training courses from ฿500 (~USD13) to ฿3,200 (~USD88)/course.

Regarding the fee, if you are a non-member, you’ll be charged ฿495 (~USD13) on weekdays and ฿595 (~USD16) on weekends or holidays. If you’ve decided to make climbing your regular hobby, you can sign up for an individual membership that starts from ฿4,500 (~USD125) per month.

Besides climbing, the membership will allow you to take part in other sports at the Racquet Club as mentioned earlier. If you see yourself as a sport fanatic, you should def check out this place.
