Travelling from city to city, we usually check into hotels with modern – almost typical – amenities. But if you want to look for an abode with more distinctive features when you venture beyond Bangkok, we’ve got just the place for you.

To save you from scrolling endlessly on Airbnb, here’s a resort located by the beach in Phang Nga that might pique your interest. TreeHouse Villas is a forested resort in Koh Yao Noi, Phang Nga that has elevated rooms overlooking the deep blue.

Forested beachfront treehouse villas & pools

TreeHouse Villas is sited on Koh Yao Noi in Phang Nga with uninterrupted views of Phang Nga Bay. Checking out the ambience, the resort is covered by thick viridescent forests, and each villa is enclosed by bushes and trees, inducing a sense of vitality. Looking from a bird’s eye view, one thing that stands out besides the villas is the triangular-shaped pools with crystal clear blue water.

In the ocean lies a pier with boats parked on both sides. To travel between the island and the city of Phang Nga, you’ll need to take a boat ride, which lasts about 30-45 minutes.

After you get off the boat and walk inside, you will spot many treehouses – designed to resemble island huts you’ll see around Bali – with suspended rope bridges for guests to walk across to visit each other. Each villa boasts two storeys made from wood, which add to the completely different vibes from hotels we commonly see in the city.

We like the fact that there are many bodies of water around this resort – yeah, we’re talking about mini pools. For passionate shutter bugs, we’re sure you won’t miss locating nice spots for your photo ops.

We think it’s high time we checked out the rooms. As we said earlier, the villas have two storeys, with a living room on the first floor and a room on the second floor. Once the sun disappears, the warm light emanating from the villas certainly sets the mood right for a peaceful evening.

Going up to your room, you’ll be greeted with a king-sized bed lying in the middle of the room with a wooden partition at the head. Above the bed, you’ll spot translucent white drapes which double up as a mosquito net. On the edge of the room, you may do a double take as what appears to be a hammock is actual a legit bathtub right next to the window. We’ll be psyched to take our bubble baths with picturesque views of the island’s bay for sure.

For those who fancy watching the calm waves of the sea splash upon the shore, the villa offers a compact balcony with two wooden chairs that you can lean back in to watch the sun dip below the horizon at the end of the day.

If you wanna relax after waking up in the morning, we’d say soaking in this mini pool and gazing at the ocean filled with small islands far away would be a good start to the day. After all, if this option sounds good to you, you can book it from ฿10,500 (~USD282)/night.

Anyway, if you’re an outdoorsy person and dislike staying in your room all day – we got ya. As the resort is right by the ocean, kayak rental is readily available. You can rent a kayak for ฿190 (~USD5)/3 hours to paddle and explore the bay at your own pace.

There are also loads of activities you can participate in, such as mountain biking, beach games, and scuba-diving. So feel free to check with the resort directly for more info.

If you wanna swap out of regular hotels on your getaways, we think TreeHouses Villas is def a place which blends modern amenities with an elevated hi-so hut experience. Moreover, due to its location on this thickly forested island, you’ll get a chance to lose yourself in wilderness – a perk for wannabe island adventurers out there.

To get here, you can choose to travel either from Phuket or Krabi, depending on which is more convenient for you.

For Phuket, check on the resort’s scheduled pickup and drop-off options for ฿1,500 (~USD41) from Phuket International Airport. You could also consider taking a boat ride to the resort; the same goes for Krabi. Alternatively, if you want to go to the resort on your own, you can get a speedboat ride at Phuket Yacht Haven Marina in Phuket or Thalen Pier in Krabi to reach TreeHouse Villas.
