But this story might arouse curiosity among readers as a toad from Thailand hid in a woman’s suitcase and travelled to Wales. Plus, it was later adopted by an experienced reptile collector.

On 10th August 2022, Matichon reported that Hannah Turian, a Welsh woman, opened her suitcase after travelling back from Thailand to her hometown, Cardiff, and found a toad hidden in it. She was surprised as to how this toad evaded various scans at the airport checkpoints.

Later, she named this toad ‘Robert’ and tried to find information on the RSPCA website, but she didn’t manage to find anything relevant.

Then, she posted her story on Facebook and got contacted by a rescue centre for reptiles. Even though ‘Robert’ is technically an amphibian, it was adopted by an experienced reptile collector, Jackie Hamilton. Hamilton told the press that this toad is her first non-venomous Asian toad that she has collected, reported Matichon.

Thai toad gets a new home in Wales

Reptiles tend to hide in places with lots of shade to avoid being seen by predators or getting exposed to the heat. And ‘Robert’ probably thought that Turian’s suitcase was a great spot to take a rest. It a feat that the toad managed to get through all the scans at the airport checkpoints, and we’re glad it arrived in Wales safely and has been adopted by a reptile expert. Hopefully, ‘Robert’ will enjoys its new life in the UK.
