Due to the daily number of infections remaining in the single-digit range, many businesses in Thailand like movie theatres and malls have reopened, along with the nationwide curfew being shortened.

As the situation in Thailand continues to stabilise, the government is now considering which businesses in phase 4, the high-risk group, should be reopened next.

Bars, concert venues, and more might come back soon

The Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced on 4th June 2020 that the government is considering which businesses categorized in the high-risk, or “red”, group should be allowed to reopen as phase 4 of lockdown will be lifted soon.

High-risk businesses include:

  • Educational institutions
  • Nurseries and centres for the senior citizens
  • Educational science venues
  • Meeting rooms holding over 200 participants
  • TV and film productions holding more than 100 people
  • National parks
  • Some unopened beaches
  • Amusement parks, game centres and playgrounds
  • Gyms, fitness centres, and sports stadiums
  • Convention halls for concerts, expos, and events
  • Entertainment venues, pubs, bars and karaoke outlets
  • Large massage parlours

Meanwhile, spokesman of CCSA, Taweesilp Visanuyothin said that COVID-19 is not going anywhere within the next few months or possibly even for years, so the government has to think carefully before allowing businesses in the red group to reopen.

As for now, the confirmed list of upcoming businesses to reopen has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for updates.
