Thailand reopens borders

In the middle of 2020, Thai tourism operators received a glimmer of hope for international travel when Covid-19 cases decreased and a “New Normal” was implemented. Unfortunately, the country also saw a spike of cases from December to January, which further devastated the tourism-based economy.

Recently, the Kingdom of Thailand has been talking more and more about easing measures for international travel.

Thai government in talks

On 11th March 2021, the National News Bureau of Thailand announced that the country may fully reopen for tourism by 1st October 2021; the decision will heavily depend on immunisation rates that each country’s vaccine shows.

They also announced that the number of cases in March have dramatically decreased, so the country can reconsider the “color-tier” labels used for provinces.
