Charter flights to Thailand

Now that the Thai government has greenlit a new long-term tourist visa to stimulate the economy, more details have been released to the public regarding plans moving forward.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, deputy governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, revealed that all visitors would have to travel on chartered flights to Thailand.

He said the government will have to work with Thai embassies overseas to organise charter flights for the new visa holders since there’s only a handful of scheduled flights right now.

The visa will be valid for 90 days upon issue and can be extended twice – 90 more days each time. The extensions will cost ฿2,000 (~USD64) each.

The mandatory state 14-day quarantine is still required.

While waiting for the first batch of travellers, the Immigration Bureau is wasting no time and has started making preparations to ensure everyone’s safety.

All officials will strictly follow the Public Health Ministry’s guidelines on curbing COVID-19 and make sure to enforce these measures on tourists arriving in the country, said the bureau.

We can’t wait to see the good ‘ol lively Thailand again.
