Man surprises brother on graduation day
For many of us who have gone through a graduation ceremony, it goes without saying that our parents – if not the whole family – were there to celebrate our success with us.
But things were a little different for fresh graduate Trairong Tosthamrom, whose brother surprised him with a life-sized standee of their late mother at his graduation ceremony on 13th October 2019.
The sign she holds says: “Your mother is proud of you”

His older brother, Mr. Traipop, shared his thoughts on Facebook last week, explaining that their mother had passed away from cancer in 2015, when Mr. Trairong just began his freshman year.
Aside from the post, he also posted a video capturing the moment he surprised his little brother.
Mother’s wish was to see younger son holding a degree
In the post, Mr. Traipop revealed that when his mother was undergoing treatment in the hospital, she often spoke in her sleep about how she wanted to see his little brother receiving his degree. She was very worried about him because he was very rebellious in his younger days.

Last month, he received his bachelor degree in Aviation Technology Management with second class honours – his mother must be smiling from above.

Mr. Traipop told Thaipbs that his brother teared up when he first saw the standee. Because of their mother’s sickness, his little brother started to take his studies more seriously because he wanted to make her proud.
At one point, he even received a scholarship to study in Australia for a period of time.
Though she wasn’t there to see him in a graduation gown, his brother still made sure he felt the love she had for him by bringing a standee of their mother there.
While we see a lot of love between this loving mother and her sons, we also feel the love and care that Mr. Traipop has for his brother. It’s a story like this that reminds us how important family is.
